The staff is very enthusiastic, but I think they need to be a bit more professional in welcoming guests. The food needs to improve in quality, for me it is a bit salty. The view here is extremely beautiful. If I have the chance, I will come back, hopefully the above suggestions will be improved, then Bakhan will be an extremely wonderful destination.

My family is very satisfied. The property is very cozy. Clean room, friendly staff, delicious cooking and pampering guests. In front of the resort is a green rice field with a fragrant scent of sugar. Cycling through rice fields is really chill One little suggestion: if possible, the lights in the bedroom should be a little brighter.

When visiting temples or pagodas, it's essential to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. Always remove your shoes before entering a home or a place of worship. Photography of people should be done with permission. In markets, polite bargaining is acceptable, but avoid aggressive haggling. Once you arrive in the vicinity of Bao La, getting around is an adventure in itself. Local buses connect towns and villages, offering a very affordable way to travel, though schedules can be infrequent. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are available in more populated areas and offer a more convenient, albeit pricier, option. For exploring the immediate surroundings of your accommodation, renting a motorbike or bicycle is a popular choice, providing flexibility and a closer connection to the landscape. Planning your book flight and onward travel is key.

The best time to visit Bao La is generally during the dry season, from October to April. During these months, the weather is pleasant, with cooler temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like trekking and exploring the valleys. The shoulder seasons, particularly October-November and March-April, offer a good balance of favourable weather and fewer crowds. Peak season, from December to February, can see more visitors and slightly higher accommodation prices.

Visa Information

Entering Vietnam for Bao La: Visa Requirements for Filipino Travellers

Philippine passport holders enjoy visa-free entry into Vietnam for short stays, typically up to 30 days. This makes planning a trip to Bao La relatively straightforward for Filipinos. You will need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and has at least one blank page. Upon arrival, immigration officials may ask for proof of onward travel, such as a return flight ticket, and sometimes evidence of sufficient funds for your stay.

While visa-free for short stays, it is crucial to confirm the latest regulations with the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines before your travel, as policies can change. For longer stays or different purposes of visit, a visa would be required, necessitating an application through the embassy or an e-visa portal. Ensure your passport has ample validity and is in good condition to avoid any issues at immigration.

It is always advisable for travellers to verify the most current visa and entry requirements directly with the official immigration authorities of Vietnam or the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines. This is especially important as travel regulations can be updated without much prior notice. Confirming your entry status before booking flights and accommodation is a prudent step to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey to Bao La.
