Arrived to a lot of bikers due to charity event but quiet later and confortable. staff were lovely as was view

A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got. Yes the place needs a bit of tidying up, decorating, updating of furniture but that doesn't bother me as long as everything works for it's purpose which it did. I booked a room at the back with a balcony overlooking the river and the view was wow! On the hottest Bank Holiday for years, I left the French doors slightly open at night and it was so lovely to hear the river and breeze coming in and my morning cup of tea sitting looking at the view. It's a stop off for bikers and I enjoyed having a bit of a chat with them and about their trips and bikes. I didn't eat at the cafe/bar but the breakfasts from what I saw looked good. Bed comfortabke, I slept well. The only thing I would say is that the walls are thin and you can hear people walking on the floor above you, so if you are a light sleeper that may affect you. For me though for the price, I more than likely will be returning with my partner in next couple months for couple nights to take in the Brecon Beacons.

Clean room, comfy bed, lots of parking, excellent view - lovely to hear the river at night. Breakfast was very lovely too. Would recommend and would return.

The road house needs a good make over and a lot of money spent on it, couldn’t turn on cold water tap in the bathroom, the kettle was too big to go under the tap in the sink so filled kettle using a mug, lots of linen bags lying around the stairs area. The hotel advertises the fact that they have a 2 year plan for refurbishment etc and state that the rooms are professionally cleaned and then sealed. We didn't find any evidence of this, either from the cleaning point or the sealing of the room, and would point out that the "professional cleaners" may want to buy a new vacuum cleaner because the one they are using doesn't pick up very well from the carpet. On arrival at the room we noticed that there was just one solitary teabag, barely enough milk and sugar for two cups of tea. Again this is usually something the cleaning staff would cover. We were going out for the evening and asked at reception for more teabags, milk, sugar. When we arrived back we found these items outside the room in the corridor on the floor in a tea cup! When we were leaving for the evening besides the teabags etc that we asked for we also asked if the toilet seat could be fixed because it was hardly secured and was in grave danger of causing someone a mischief. We were told that the maintenance man would be asked to sort it out. Unfortunately he either didn't take any notice of the request or wasn't asked because it hadn't been fixed by the time we returned. To exit the hotel is an archway which contained dog poo bags in one corner and a couple of 5 gallon containers of used cooking oil against the wall with approx another 10 containers just outside. There are other detrimental facts but this review doesn't allow more than 1500 characters.

Stayed at The Roadhouse for one night. The location was convenient and check-in was straightforward, but the room felt very tired and in need of some updating. Décor and furnishings looked worn, and overall it didn’t feel as fresh as expected. It was fine for a short stay, but with some refurbishment it could be much better.

Amazing location. Bikers pub, excellent motor bikes and people. Atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. The plumbing needs sorting! Every time we turned a tap/ shower on the noise of the pipes was awful, especially in the night. Probably keeping guests awake. Overall great stay, food, hospitality.

Yes the room was clean there was many towels soap clean sheets the menu has a variety of food and drinks there are many parking spaces

Staff were amazing, everyone I spoke with was really helpful and pleasant. If your looking for good honest accommodation and normal food that doesn’t cost a fortune this is the place for you.

It was what it was. It’s not 5* but it’s somewhere to get the head down. Staff are friendly and helpful and the views are stunning. Would stop again.

Great views from bedroom overlooking the river. Room is lovely and quiet and you get a good nights sleep. Place is a little dated but is being modernised/ improved… a work in progress. Breakfast is lovely and the staff very friendly. Good luck with your project.. happy biking👍

We did,nt have a balcony view however staff was kind enough to provide a chair in the room for my Husband as their was,nt one.Nice chilled atmosphere lovely food enjoyed our stay .
