I loved my stay at Lake Safari Lodge. The rooms were very comfortable with a nice seating area outside with great views of the lake. The grounds are beautiful- full of flowers and trees and with lots of seating from where you can admire different views of the lake. The view from the infinity pool is stunning. Lovely buffet breakfast with a great selection - the fruit platter is a work of art ! But most of all it was the friendliness of the staff which made my stay. From the owner to the waiting staff everyone made me feel welcome which is particularly appreciated when you are a solo traveller. Thank you all .

My stay was not what I expected. I booked an executive room and it was one big room with a living room area. The air conditioner is located at the entrance of the room therefore, the rest of the room wasn't cool and Siavonga is really hot. Temperatures were in the high 90 F. However, I did enjoy dinner but wasn't impress with breakfast. I actually checked out a day earlier and lost one night cause I was miserable at the lodge.

Went for a family weekend and enjoyed the relaxed environment. Siavonga is very hot, so be prepared and there is not many activity to do. Good for slowing down and reflections. The Safari Lodge is more like a 3-star hotel complex. Older wing is Chinese quality even the executive rooms. Size of the rooms are exaggerated and feels empty. Restaurant has good variety and the staff is helpful.

The name is misleading as it is a large complex of accommodations and definitely not a Safari Lodge. The place is offering close to 100 bed spaces of various levels. We were awarded free executive upgrade that was a nice addition. The exco rooms are huge, uselessly huge, the interior feels very Chinese and empty, however the lake view from the room is outstanding. The smaller but newer family rooms are more appealing to me with a more natural setting. Housekeeping was a bit erratic, the leaking jacuzzi challenged the maid and the aircon is noisy. All in all we had a great couple of nights there and would not mind returning for a weekend getaway. Restaurant is very capable of fixing some delicious blend of local tastes. You should try the crayfish salad or the home made fish fingers.

Hotel location is stunning, on the lake. However the room was old and run-down, there were ants in the bathroom and we saw a cockroach in the bedroom. The bar/'pool area was nice but the food was poor, particularly on Friday night when we were the only guests. Check-out was the big issue, when we checked out I was asked to pay in full for the stay, despite having paid Hotels.com; the receptionist wanted my cc number to ensure the bill would be paid, she alleged that they'd had Hotels.com guests before and had never been paid for the accommodation...when I refused to pay a second time, having showed them that I'd paid for the room she still tried to get me to pay again. This was only resolved when the manageress arrived and she contacted Hotels.com directly, apparently they'f not given the correct contact details to get paid. All in all, other than the stunning location, an overpriced hotel...there are better in Siavonga.

The standard room we were shown was dirty. The set up of the rooms lacked privacy. The worst thing about it was the terrible attitude of the manager. I forfeited the entire (non-refundable) cost of my 4 night trip because of his attitude and I thought the rooms were not worth the money I paid. I would make the same decision faced with that abysmal service again
