I was here in 2018, it was neat, clean, fun, and in 2025 it was even cooler, a fun holiday at the museum.

Before exploring, an officer will explain what you can and cannot do inside the gallery. The place is exciting, fun, and enjoyable. We can draw too. The paintings are beautiful. There's a lot to learn.

NYALA: 200 Years of the Diponegoro War the best.

Bought tickets on Traveloka, and the exchange for a wristband was quick. Just scan the barcode. I wasn't really interested in going here because I thought it would just be paintings I didn't understand, but I ended up enjoying it. The staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining things. There's also an interactive section.

I visited the Galeri Nasional Indonesia to see the 200 TH NYALA PERANG DIPONEGORO exhibition and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the event. I was particularly pleased with the proactive approach by the event staff in taking the initiative to explain the interpretations of different exhibits on display to us when they saw us taking interest in any specific displays. I also enjoyed the creative take of the event, showcasing creations/interpretations of the Perang Diponegoro spirits by various artists of different genres. It's very refreshing.

Entry is quick; just show the barcode you scanned for your order. The place is nice and cool, and it's not too crowded on a weekday. It's located across from Gambir Station. For those taking the busway, take route 6H from the Senen Sentral busway stop.

I was particularly impressed with the "Nyala" exhibition, which commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Diponegoro War. The way they presented the history and context was truly compelling. The star of the show, of course, was seeing the authentic "The Arrest of Prince Diponegoro" by Raden Saleh. To see this masterpiece up close and in person was an unforgettable moment. It's so much more powerful in real life, and the accompanying information really helped to appreciate the artist's unique perspective. Beyond the exhibitions, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They were always available to answer questions and provided a welcoming atmosphere, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The place is clean, spacious, and the layout makes it easy to navigate and fully appreciate all the artwork on display. I highly recommend Galeri Nasional Indonesia to anyone interested in Indonesian art, history, or simply looking for a beautiful and enriching experience in Jakarta. It's a must-visit destination!
