My visit to the Galeri Nasional Indonesia was absolutely fantastic and a highlight of my trip. The overall experience was excellent, from the well-maintained premises to the incredible exhibitions.
I was particularly impressed with the "Nyala" exhibition, which commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Diponegoro War. The way they presented the history and context was truly compelling. The star of the show, of course, was seeing the authentic "The Arrest of Prince Diponegoro" by Raden Saleh. To see this masterpiece up close and in person was an unforgettable moment. It's so much more powerful in real life, and the accompanying information really helped to appreciate the artist's unique perspective.
Beyond the exhibitions, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They were always available to answer questions and provided a welcoming atmosphere, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The place is clean, spacious, and the layout makes it easy to navigate and fully appreciate all the artwork on display.
I highly recommend Galeri Nasional Indonesia to anyone interested in Indonesian art, history, or simply looking for a beautiful and enriching experience in Jakarta. It's a must-visit destination!
