Excellent location to get to the harbour activities. Hotel is good but need a little maintenance. Our suite had water stains and a peeling ceiling. Great staff.

This was our first visit to Halifax. Hollis location can't be beat! Very close to all amenities, harbour front, and great restaurants. The front desk staff was amazing for directions and any extras we needed for our room. The Cannery restaurant in the hotel was very good for breakfast! The room was a great layout and allowed my daughter her own space on the pullout couch while I enjoyed my private bedroom. I wish we'd been warned about the constant traffic noise and construction which typically started at 6:00am. Ear plugs were a must for the week in order for a good night sleep. The rooms were very clean but could use some TLC. Missing closet door, torn wallpaper, shower curtains that touch the floor to prevent water everywhere. We ran out of kleenex and toilet paper and this wasn't restocked so we needed to ask at front desk. Very minor things that did not interrupt a wonderful trip to Halifax.

The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant servers were attentive to detail and the menu items were had were delicious. The hotel was also pretty central for many of the places we wished to visit.

This was our 4th stay at the Hollis I believe. We visit family in Halifax yearly and have found the Hollis our best option in the downtown area. The location is perfect, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are well kept and beds are very comfortable. We would be very hard pressed to stay anywhere else. Love the Hollis!

Very well located to walk to everything in halifax

I recently stayed at The Hollis for 3 nights in Halifax. The check-in was swift and was even welcomed with a warm baked chocolate chip cookie which was a great way to settle in. Reception staff were very pleasant. We were provided a beautiful suite with a waterfront view to the Halifax harbour and enjoyed this view. Unfortunately, the room itself was not as clean as we would have expected: the windows had a layer of dirt and were spotty throughout, curtains had moth holes all over, so, they did not as blackout curtains, the nightstand lampsahde nightstand had brown stains all over. The gym was decent enough for a workout, however, the yoga mats were absolutely filthy with brown and grey stains and worn out--they really need to be replaced! Cleanliness was great in the lobby and hallways, but, everywhere else was substandard for a hotel of this calibre. The most challenging aspect to the room was that the air conditioning did not work upon check-in until the next afternoon which made for a very uncomfortable and unrestful sleep and near impossible to work; reception provided a fan for us, however, it was just pushing hot air throughout the night. The next day, reception notified us that the air conditioning was fixed, however, it was not, so, once they sent the technician up again to fix it, all was functioning. Unfortunately, based on cleanliness and climate control, I would not return to this hotel, however, it should be noted that their staff are kind.

Hotel was very clean but the ac did not work in our room and after the first night we had no more towels.

While the front desk staff were lovely and got us checked in well before the 3pm check in time after our red eye flight, our delight ended there. The room was musty and not well maintained. Stains on the floor, lamp shades and ceiling - possibly water damage? Uncomfortable bed, no real amenities, and the room made me feel stuffed up and sore throat which disappeared as soon as we checked out. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Perfect location to enjoy the Halifax waterfront. Easy access to everything you could want. Pool and exercise facilities clean. Breakfast included is full menu seated service not buffet style and was excellent!

Great staff. Air conditioning not working.
