Clean room, excellent service.

Hotel de Orangerie is beautifully located, making it easy to enjoy the charm of the city. The room was cozy and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing stay. While the bathroom layout was a bit unconventional and took some getting used to, everything was clean and well-maintained. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the breakfast was a delightful start to the day.

First-time guests should consider alternatives. Returning guests who remember this hotel fondly should be aware that the experience has materially changed. This hotel is no longer what it once was. Possibly due to changes in management, the overall experience has declined noticeably. We stayed here 4–5 times since 2018 and previously had consistently excellent experiences. Unfortunately, that standard was not maintained during our most recent stay. Front desk staffing felt stretched, and service came across as more transactional than attentive. We paid over €700 per night for a “romantic” canal-view room, but the room was small, dated, and quite noisy, and did not match the same room category we had booked in the past. After raising our concerns with multiple staff members about the mismatch between what was booked and what was provided, we were moved to a different room that typically sells for half the price, without any refund or additional consideration such as breakfast or a goodwill gesture. At check-in, we were also advised that booking directly rather than through a “third-party website” would have been preferable, which was disappointing to hear as a returning guest. Our concerns at both check-in and check-out—referencing our prior stays—were met with limited engagement. After three nights, it was clear that the hotel no longer delivers the level of value or experience it once did. If you stayed here years ago and enjoyed it, be aware the experience has changed.

The staff couldn't have been more attentive, the entrance, common area with the lounge and dining room spectacular. The views from the antique windows were magical. Honestly, the common areas are as you would hope for such a magical historical place, the location was excellent, very walkable but quiet on a side street with the patio along the canal. It was really just our room - and not that the bed was not very comfortable, the sheets and amenities of coffee in your room and water - but for the SLH and the cost, I had hoped it would be a bit more kept with the walls, carpet and furniture.

Room smelled like mold and was dirty and we complained the front of house was dismissive and essentially told us we should have checked in earlier to ensure we'd have a better room.

Wonderful, location and staff! Breakfast was one of the best on our trip. All restaurants they recommended and reserved for us were amazing! Only drawback is older age people have a problem getting into out of their high tubs, and very low ceiling in the room downstairs-so would not recommend for people over 5’11

The hotel is beautiful, there is no doubt about that! It’s designed perfectly and it feels very luxurious. We were disappointed, however; to stay in a room that had quite a serious mould issue in the bathroom. It covered the walls and the ceiling and caused a very musty smell when the shower was on. We didn't spot this until later in the evening as we had dropped our bags and left earlier in the day to explore the beatiful city. We did contact reception to request a room switch but they didn't respond. It was a difficult nights sleep was I was worried about the affect of the mould on my breathing + chest.

Near every thing

This hotel is quaint and charming. The staff are accommodating and polite. I booked the basic room without fully reading that it’s at the entrance of the hotel. Still a charming room but the noise from the street and sliding doors kept me up. They were able to upgrade me for a small fee. Both rooms were clean, comfy and had everything you’d need. Highly recommend this hotel.

Really lovely hotel and amazing staff. I did ask for a little something to be put in the room for my partners birthday, which they confirmed there would be but unfortunately nothing was which was a shame!

Very nice hotel! My room had a canal view! The room was very quant and had a nice ambiance of old Bruge! The bathroom was very large and modern with a great shower! The bed was one of the best I’ve ever slept in! I highly recommend this hotel!

Made to feel welcome and valued throughout stay. Little touches that made my stay feel special.

Charming hotel, one of the best I have stayed at

This is a lovely hotel in a prime location. It has lots of character and is very comfortable with a great staff. We plan to return.
