The hotel is in an excellent location (which is why I chose it), opposite the National Palace and a short walk from the main town square with all the restaurants and bus stops.
The rooms are very spacious and well-equipped, but the air-conditioning is TERRIBLE and hardly works at all!
The breakfast was excellent (although there is not really enough room for all the guests and we had to wait for a table to become free on the first morning).
Big drawback: whilst it's in a great spot, the hotel is also located next to the municipal recycling bins! This means that at night it's very noisy with people (assume local restaurant staff) emptying their bottles etc into the bins as late as 3am and the council coming to empty the bins around midnight. Owing to the poor air conditioning we had to sleep with the balcony door wide open, to avoid the room being like a sauna, which meant the noise from ourside was really bad.
So whilst I would 100% recommend this hotel, I would also suggest very strongly paying the extra money to stay on the garden side of the building, not the front side. That, I'm sure, would be quieter!! We tried to switch rooms, but were told the hotel was full.
If I return to Sintra, and I would really love to as it's an amazing place, I would stay at this hotel, but on the valley side and not the Palace side.
