I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place in Fort Lauderdale. While the location was convenient and ideal, the overall experience at the hotel was disappointing.
The room had a noticeable mildew smell, and both the carpet and furnishings felt outdated. The hallway carpets were also in need of vacuuming, and I often saw piles of trash left outside guests’ doors each night. The pool area was equally underwhelming—worn-out lounge chairs, an unpleasant odor (possibly from a nearby trash area), and an overall lack of upkeep made it uninviting.
Despite posted signs prohibiting food, drinks, and glassware, I saw guests bringing glass wine bottles and cups into the pool area. I also witnessed a naked child entering the pool, which raised safety and hygiene concerns.
The exterior grounds could benefit from significant maintenance and attention. On a positive note, the hotel staff was friendly and courteous throughout my stay.
Overall, I expected a much higher standard from the Hyatt brand. Unfortunately, this particular location didn’t meet those expectations and felt more like a motel than a hotel. I do not plan to return.
