Very nice staff. Good breakfast and decent bar. Wouldn't stay again as room very noisy with shouting from street until 4am both nights and then the road sweepers started at 8

The overall hotel was fine and it’s in a very good central location, but there were a few issues that made the stay very uncomfortable. The room was extremely overheated even in February to the point where we had the window open constantly for 3 days and the fan on overnight to sleep. I woke up with a migraine after the first night which happens when I get overheated when I sleep which ruined the second day. The pillows were hard and lumpy and the spare soft pillow was like a tissue it was so flat and I also woke up with a sore neck. The shower was lukewarm at best no matter how hot we turned it up. If you like a warm room and hard pillows it might be the hotel for you though!

Staff were amazingly polite and welcoming. Room was clean and with plenty of room. It was quite loud so bring ear plugs but would definitely stay again!

Areli hotel no tiene aire acondicionado funcionando , demasiado calor , sin luz en el pasillo de los elevadores y solo 2 toalla en la habitación que era para dos . Me cambiaron 2 veces de habitación y sin aire ambas . La señorita de la recepción trato de ayudar pero no apareció ningún manager a resolver ni pude dormir del calor y pagué $170 , ni lo recomiendo para nada , me ofrecieron agua como compensación por la molestia . Me pareció muy poco profesional y responsable este hotel .

Our stay at the Novotel Hotel in Ghent, the Netherlands, 15-17 Oct 2025 was excellent. With the exception of a couple of people, overall, the hotel's staff was friendly and hospitable. The photos matched the room -- clean and roomy. The mirror in the bathroom was a foot higher above my head (5 foot 2 inches) and the lighting was not bright enough. A light in the entrance way was broken, and not fixed during our 2 day stay, even though a cleaning staff member knew and promised to have it fixed. When requested our daily supply of coffee packages, both the front desk (condescending) and the cleaning staff were not readily responsive. BTB Fresno, CA, USA

I rarely leave reviews. I stay in hotels all over the world and I've worked in 44 countries at the last count. I've stayed in the Novotel Gent before, even hosted a week-long conference here in 2023 not that made any difference. In short the hotel is over-priced and under-loved. Specifically I payed 200 Euros a night for a hotel with a hole in the carpet, skirting board hanging off, scruffy, unkempt paint flecks (missing paint) in the bathroom and plastic curtains (with dirty marks). If I was paying 100 Euros a night I might not grumble, but come on this is a Novotel. The night staff on my arrival was quite insistent that I pay in full on my arrival at just before midnight. I know some hotels may have this 'rule' but it might have been a bit more considerate, say empathetic to ask about my journey (long tiring journey) and say "don't worry sir we know you have stayed here in the past, pay in the morning." I had problems with my business card and was put under pressure to pay the next day. When I managed to contact my bank and sort my card issues I came to pay the balance on Thursday morning to be met by "Oh I can't do it now, it's too difficult, pay in full when you check out". I also asked to change my room on Thursday. I was met by I can't do that you have to come back when my manager is here. Super: you can demand my money but you can't address the poor state of my room. It wasn't helped by the words "I can't help you I am only following orders". Awful choice of words

The property is sadly lacking in maintenance. We have stayed in Novotel’s in other countries and had higher expectations than what we were met with. Paint peeling in the shower, bedside light switches, broken or missing, blackout curtains old and tattered
