It was great experience. Hotel was very clean and great service. We were satisfied. We are really coming back this hotel.

A highlght from our trip. If you can, definitely stay here at least one night, instead of doing a day-trip to Nara (more time if you can spare it!) The hotel and staff are just fantastic. This gives you an idea of what you can expect from a hotel that receives foreign and local dignitaries and heads of state. Walking distance from the park/ landmarks and also restaurants and shopping nearby. The room itself was ample (more than you will probably see in your whole stay in Japan) with modern rooms incorporated into a fantastic historic building.

Good location

Nara Hoteal was part of our longer Japan family trip. The hotel has amazing history (Einstein, Japan Royal family, Vaclav Havel .. and many other dignitaries stayed in the hotel over its long history). Hotel itself by now is bit dated, but it has amazing architecture and it is very traditional with beautiful wooden panelings, great bar and garden restaurant - we liked it very much even if we think that JR (Japanese railway company, which owns the hotel currently) should invest a bit into its refit. carets are dated and airconditioning was really noisy. Location is amazing as well - just next to the Nara deer park, which is major attraction in Nara as the formal imperial city,

A lovely sized room in a great location. The negatives were for us that the bed was a bit hard and the bathroom a bit dated. In saying that this is a traditional hotel and has wonderful history. Bar area very comfortable with good atmosphere and attentive staff. We were lucky to see deer on our way to dinner in town and from our balcony on the lowest floor of the new building. This very much made our stay.

Historic

Its probably the best place I have stayed as of yet, from my exploration its not really missing anything, a few scars here and there yet they tell a story. some parts need restoration, bath tubs and fittings would be the ones actually 'needed' to prevent rotting through and damaging the foundation via inflation. Other wise its good as is. That is my opinion on the matter, I dont know if there is barrier between the tub and the building if so it can be left alone, if my version of a fix would be remove the rust in a circle, and with new sealant put in a lovely patterns

Wonderful staff, hotel and location. Walkable to parks, grounds were lovely and everyone was very helpful. Clean, large rooms and dining on site.

Really a great location if you want to go to the park. Has a bus to go to Nara Station.

Overpriced and poor facilities, hotel in need of complete renovation.

The location is excellent and the exterior of the hotel is ok but the inside of the hotel is worn and tired and in desperate need of renovation - particularly for the very high price. Staff friendly but inflexible and mediocre service. Giving The Shining vibes. Not recommended.

Staff members are very friendly and helpful, but the facility is not worth the cost. Spider on bed

Staff are incredibly nice and helpful. Japanese breakfast was incredible with fish option. Facility is immaculate and well located to temples. Highly recommend this hotel.

A beautiful old building, a wonderful Suite with two bathrooms, two balconies unfortunately no balcony furniture to sit outside, the staff was helpful and friendly. Great location to reach many Nara highlights, restaurants and shops by foot.
