Everything about this hotel was wonderful. It’s more like a resort! The room was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious every morning, the servers were excellent and the pool was a delightful bonus. I highly recommend!

Out of our 9 nights in Costa Rica, we enjoyed this stay the most. The villas, each with about 4 rooms, are settled among well maintained beautiful jungle gardens. Due to the way we booked the stay, we were in two different villas. The second one was much nicer and more updated than the first. The first villa was clean, good AC, and secure, but felt a little more like “glamping.” Some villas require an uphill walk on a paved sidewalk to access. The pool was immaculate and very refreshing. We enjoyed the restaurant. Breakfast was delicious with large portions. There was live music Friday night that was not very busy, but the musician was exceptional. There was a jungle trail that we enjoyed walking on. We spotted several nice birds. We heard howler monkeys each morning but did not spot them. The best part of this stay was the staff, who were genuinely caring and kind. We traveled with an infant, and the staff were very accommodating. The housekeeper even made a little family of elephants with towels to welcome us to our room and made up the baby’s bed in the cutest way. Staff were helpful with our luggage. This hotel is off the main road on a bumpy gravel road. May be best suited for a vehicle with a little clearance. The nearby Dominical Beach was not busy and more beautiful than any other beach we saw in CR. It was fun to swim with the waves. We were sad to leave! Highly recommend if you are looking for a clean safe way to immerse yourself in the jungle.

Five stars all the way. Villas Rio Mar has an amazing location — close to Dominical but outside the hustle, peaceful and relaxing. Just minutes from the beach, with a beautiful river nearby. The property is gorgeous, the pools are great, the rooms are beautiful, and everything was clean and well maintained. The restaurant was fantastic and the service was excellent. Incredible value — highly recommend.

This hotel is beautifully set out. The rooms are spacious and private. The restaurant and bar areas are roomy. There are two pools. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful.

Everything was excellent

One of my favorite hotels. It’s clean, the swimming pool is nice, and the staff is very kind. There are many beautiful beaches nearby. They also have an electric outlet available for charging electric cars, which is very convenient.

Great property. Very quiet and secluded. Many iguanas, birds and other animals there. They even have a pickleball court at the entrance of the property.

The good: The lush vegatation around the room area is really nice. Lots of birds and small animals. The bad: The poor maintenance. No hot water. A/C didn't work the first night. Stained bed sheets. Rude reception staff.

Hotel was great. Short walk to town. Food at dinner was really good. Breakfast was premade and not very hot but otherwise everything was great.

A nice stay at this hotel. Was better than expected and the food at the Crocodile restaurant was awesome.

The property is beautiful and relaxing. The pools was amazing and not over chlorinated. There is plenty of wildlife to see on the property. The walking areas are covered in algae and slick in areas. However, they are in the process power washing it off.

The hotel has a lovely artistic Costa Rican flavor; the grounds are interesting to walk through with statues and many varieties of birds and butterflies. A lovely outdoor patio adjoined my room, and I enjoyed both the large pools. The Crocodile Grill & Bar served great food and drinks. What really sets the resort apart is the staff - they are absolutely wonderful and SO very helpful; they made me feel so special!!
