Hard to beat for convenience as a traveler depending on the train & tram services, and an interest in exploring Potsdam on foot or via tram. If one uses the exit/entrance to the train station that's in a sort of shopping mall and just over the bridge (Lange Brukke area), it's easy to walk to/from the main station (Hbf), with a grocery store hidden away in that mall as well. Also very handy to a main tram interchange, the Tourist Info place, and the Alter Markt. I didn't opt for breakfast on site and the restaurant was closed for dinner for some or all of my stay. But, there is a nice Mediterranean place just steps away. Hotel staff were very friendly and kindly accommodated my request, based on other reviews, for a room somewhat distant from the elevator and on an upper level. I experienced no problem with noise although, with the fan on the A/C running at full power, some background sounds may have been covered. Room was plenty large enough for 1 or 2;decent number of sturdy hangers, along with hanging space. A few more shelves (vs some oddly shallow cabinets - what do you do with something 4"/10 cm deep?) would be more practical. A/C struggled in the hot weather, but fortunately I was able to return to a Dutch hotel with more effective A/C before the heat wave really got going. Staff was very helpful in explaining the rather puzzling control system for the HVAC. Would love an in-room kettle for tea/coffee prep but not a standard in Germany it seems.

Waking distance from train station, pier for river tours right next door, friendly and helpful staff, varied and abundant Buffett breakfast. Hard to almost impossible to get Google maps or city mapper to work in the city, for some reason

Friendly staff and convenient location. However, breakfast was disappointing with items being either too soft or poor tasting.

We have been staying here a few times over a few years now. The only issue is air conditioning. It’s too hot always.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Hotel in Potsdam. The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel location is perfect; an easy walk from the train station and to the city centre, plus great a great view of the Havel river and surrounding countryside!

Overall the hotel was clean and staff were friendly. However, I couldn't get a hot drink at night after the restaurant had closed.

The front desk people were extremely nice and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Restaurant and breakfast staff were sometimes a bit grumpy. Bar and restaurant not open Sunday or Monday evenings which is a shame. Snacks and drinks are available from the front desk. Room service would have been nicer.

Good location

We stayed two nights and throughout our stay the stopper in our sink malfunctioned. We reported it on three occasions but it was not fixed. We were offered a change of room but this was not satisfactory as the first option was suggested after midnight on the first night and we were already for bed and the second offer was made the following afternoon as we were leaving the hotel to attend a weeding. On the morning we checked out our toilet would not flush. While the food at breakfast was fine there is an issue with the layout of the serving station. There is only one station where all the food is laid out. So at busy times you can expect 30/40 people in a line. There are no trays so you are expected to carry whatever you want by hand. As all the food is laid out in this fashion you must move along the line even if you only want something e.g. fruit which is at the end of the serving station. If you forget something or wish an extra portion of something you must get back in line as it next to impossible to cut in. Also there is only one coffee station which again causes unnecessary queues.

Was okay. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was clean although no double bed for me and my partner 2 single beds. Not so comfortable. Also weird bathroom with no door on it. Room was quite small. No tea / coffee maker in room either. But we brought own kettle. Dont understand why hotels dont have this especially at this price. Other wise was ok. Location is fine around 10 mins walk from main station. 5 mins on tram to old centre.As said staff friendly and helpful. Wifi as good.. 7 out of 10 for me.
