Lovely friendly elegant hotel. Spacious clean room. Great amenities and let us store our bikes securely within the hotel close to reception. Reception staff could not have been friendlier or more professional. Great breakfast. Perfect central location.

Immediately told we would have to pay £15 for overnight parking in their car park (nobody mentioned there was free parking in their road outside). Then told breakfast would cost £15, even if you only had a bowl of cereal. Room was like an oven, and couldn’t open windows properly, let alone any air conditioning. Very poor value for money.

Great hotel but no air conditioning in rooms

I have read some negative reviews but am really glad I chose this hotel. I went solo as I badly needed a break from work and was at my ease the whole time. Staff were friendly and respectful. Beautiful garden to relax in, and food served well into the evening. The hotel is near the train station and the town centre. I would recommend it in all aspects.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated in the centre of Winchester yet has a beautiful walled garden where you can eat or relax with a drink. The staff were extremely friendly and very courteous. All requests were dealt with a professional manner. We had a charming, spacious room that was extremely clean and had everything you needed.

The property was conveniently located. The outside grounds were beautiful for lunch and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Shower was very tight.

Nice hotel in a great location. Rooms a tad small but more than adequate. Great outdoor garden where you can relax and have drinks from the adjacent bar. The fact that the weather was great made it even better. Recommend!

We stayed one night at a historic and cultural hotel which stood in a convenient location. We loved the spacious garden in the evening enjoying dinner there. Although the hotel has centuries of history, every corner of the hotel was well maintained by keeping the tradition and atmosphere at its original style. The room was a bit old (which the floor was a bit leaning), the two nights stay was comfortable and relaxing. For those visitors who cherish the value of history and traditions, this hotel would absolutely fit your taste. For those who is look for functional and modern facilities, this may not be the one. However, this hotel would be an eye opener to diversify your values of appreciating what our ancestors left for us.

Staff were awful, no welcome drink as advertised, stood and watched both of us struggle with our luggage (through doors and up stairs), decor in the very dated, shelves hanging off the wall (room 104), toilet stank of urine (room 104)… All reported and nothing done at all. No staff at reception on a Sat morning to check out for 10 mins so we just left.

Perfect for a stay in the centre of Winchester. Comfortable beds, nice rooms and bathroom. Staff were great, very helpful and the overnight carpark fee covers you until checkout. The bar was comfortable and had great recommendations too. Good value for money with a little feel of luxury. Have stayed here twice now and not been disappointed.
