Myself and my husband stayed for one night earlier this month. We had booked a lake view balcony room hoping the weather would be kind to us to sit and look at the wonderful views. We were lucky it was. The room itself is a bit dated . The furniture although beautiful old wood could do with a light sand down and re oil to make it look good again. The bathroom was like any bathroom you would get in a Travelodge or similar. What did surprise me was the rusty radiator/towel rail on the wall and the rusty toilet holder and old toilet brush.....very disappointing.....The bed was comfortable. The glass on the balcony was great to sit and look over the lake, but the wooden chairs so low and uncomfortable to sit on. The glass could have done with a good clean. Lots of dirt and green mold especially around the bottom of the glass. I would say for the price we paid approx £274 b&b it was very over priced. The hotel itself has some lovely modern areas, but the wing with the lake view balcony rooms definitely need an upgrade. Location great for the views but it's a busy road so lots of noise when your sat out and not much to do in the area unless you like water sports. Bus service right outside to take you into the lakes is good if you don't want to drive.

Incredible from start to finish. Booked to visit Low Wood Bay Resort as part of a package, which included kayaking, afternoon tea, and a thermal spa visit. The kayaking was for 2 hours, and just over the road from the spa. The spa staff were very accomodating in allowing us to use the spa facilities to shower and change prior to the afternoon tea, as we were feeling a bit icky after the kayaking! The afternoon tea (with a twist) was fantastic! No small sandwiches with odd fillings and slices of cake here! The afternoon tea is served in the Smoke House, and comes with all the things you would want - mini burgers, kebabs, waffle fries, halloumi, cheesecake.... I could go on. A great twist on the classic, and well executed. The staff were all friendly and smiling, despite the heat in the kitchen! The spa staff were equally friendly and helpful. The 3 hour visit started with a tour around the various pools and saunas, so that you knew your way around. We never felt crowded by other people using the facilities, and there was always plenty of space. Staff were always on hand to take drinks orders, to bring to drinks to you in your pool of choice, and even to bring around the occasional sweet treat or warm face towel. The views of the lake are incredible, making you feel as if you could be in Lake Como. As I said earlier, the day was incredible from start to finish. I would highly recommend, and would definitely visit again!

Such a beautiful hotel on Lake Windermere. The Spa is the best one I’ve been to! Grab yourself a cocktail and take in the amazing views in the outdoor heated pool. We also had a massage which was perfect. There is a bus stop right outside if you want to go into Bowness. The sunset from the lawn at the front of the hotel is magical. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Such a relaxing romantic getaway.

First time staying and I really enjoyed it. It was such a joy to have a hotel where finding parking isn't stressful. Lovely 40 min walk into Ambleside and fantastic views of Lake Windermere. Didn't use the spa but used the pool and gym which were very nice and really well equipped. Residents can only use the pool between 7 30am and 10am and 5.30pm to 8pm (adults only) The staff were really nice, the lady in the breakfast room runs a tight ship, I feel a bit sorry for the way she spoke to her colleagues Breakfast, I expected more variety for a hotel of that price and standard. No fresh fruit, no bread variety, no yoghurt variety. The room was lovely, but the security light was right opposite our window and lit up the room the whole night. It was like the lamppost scene in One Foot in the Grave (too niche?? Maybe) They cant turn it off, so we suggested a black out blind to be fitted as the curtains didn't suffice. We ate at Blue Smoke the first night, again staff were great, wine list extensive, but food was bang average. The chips were oven chips, the steak was ok but totally overpriced. We went to the Priest Hole in Ambleside the second night and that was excellent for half the price. Overall for location and comfort I would stay again but theres a few things needed to bring it up to 4 star standard and be worth the eye watering price they charge per room per night.

Overal it was brilliant. The bed was 2 single mattresses put together. There was a mattress topper or duvet on top to minimise the the mattress join, should really get a bigger mattress, could still feel the join. We stayed in the oak suite and the coffee machine would be better in the sitting room area not the bedroom, so I could have made a coffee in the morning without waking up my husband. Breakfast and diner in the Smoke House were fantastic, highly recommend. I'd even go as far to say the steak I had was the best I've eaten. Staff are lovely. Location is right on a busy road, where the traffic never stops. Nothing the hotel can do about that. It also wouldn't stop us from coming back. The spa was fantastic, we absolutely loved the outdoor thermal pools in the morning, such an amazing experience watching the lake wake up. We are very glad that we chose this hotel for our 10yr wedding anniversary gift to ourselves.
