It’s easy to give a good review when all goes well but when there’s problems can the staff handle it. In our case the staff made the difference between a disaster and an excellent experience. During our stay Toronto was in the middle of a heatwave and in the middle of the night our air conditioner stopped working, it became so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep. We contacted the management first thing in the morning, within 35 minutes they moved us to an upgraded room and helped with the move. Outstanding service, thank you. This boutique hotel is perfectly located, clean and has wonderful character. Highly recommended.

Older historic building in a nice quiet neighborhood, although there is construction during the day on a high rise across the street towards the corner. Not an issue for me since I wasn't there to just to hang out in the room anyway. VERY convenient for visiting the Ontario Royal Museum. Would stay there again and recommend for others travelling solo or with another, but probably not for families.

Bien situé dans un quartier animé, mais pas toujours propre à certains endroits dont le ventilateur de plafond. Mais personnel très gentil! En aucun cas ne loué cette chambre un vendredi ou samedi, le pub à côté vois empêchera de dormir jusqu'à 4h du matin, mais tranquille le reste de la semaine.

The room was clean and spacious and convenient parking right behind the hotel. It was next to a pub that was packed on a Tuesday evening! We will definitely return.

Huge disappointment. The photos depict a charming establishment. It's an absolute dive. Photos don't show how tired & dumpy it is in reality. Our room was a "deluxe" room. When we opened the door, there isn't the usual clearance to actually open the door, so it hits a wall and springs back at you - watch your face! The shower didn't drain, there's no toilet paper holder (it's just randomly sitting by the sink/on the toilet tank), the flusher buttons kept popping out of place, & the toilet ended up unflushable, the safe didn't work (concerning b/c when you look at the door's locking mechanism, looks like there's been attempts to pry it open), the bedding is NOISY!! No idea what sort of mattress pad they use, but it makes a sort of loud squeaking noise when you move. The furniture has seen better days, looks like it got picked up off the side of the road. We called down about the safe, the receptionist said she'd send someone up. We waited, & waited. Finally we left (with our valuables) & headed for dinner. Nobody fixed the safe. I got zero sleep, due to the noisy mattress protector. We booked 3 nights, total. We did not expect the Savoy, but it was just TERRIBLE. The next day, we asked to check out. The receptionist was nice (only positive thing I can say), said we'd have to still pay for the 1st night at a significantly higher rate, but we were off the hook for the other 2. We booked at The Yorkville Royal Sonesta, HEAVEN!! 2 nights, more amenities, less cost.

We almost weren’t able to stay. We didn’t have a credit card to use and you would not except a Canadian debit Visa. Fortunately we had a US debit visa , this one was excepted. I don’t know how the US one worked and Canadian one didn’t . Exactly the same type of card but different country. Go figure

Parking was easy and reasonably priced ($16 from 12 PM to 6 PM). However, the check-in process was very frustrating. You had to go to the building next to the hotel, which was extremely crowded. It was difficult to even get inside, and no one answered the phone when we called. The room was clean and had a charming vintage style. Unfortunately, there was a bar/disco nearby, and the noise was extremely loud until 4:00 AM, making it almost impossible to get a good night’s sleep.all staff is friendly .

This is a “hotel” in a questionable neighborhood near to the University of Toronto. The are has a lot of homeless and is dirty. The hotel is a converted Victorian house and therefore has quirks. Everything is old, run down, and shabby (carpet, beds, fixtures, etc). The A/C works well and there is plenty of hot water. If you have ANY mobility issues, do not come here. There are stairs everywhere and is impossible to navigate. Check in was strange. You have to go upstairs to the bar to find the front desk attendant. It’s not in the same building as the hotel. The bar is quite noisy so be prepared for that if you have a room facing the bar. The good thing is that you are just a few feet from the TTC and within long walking distance to the ROM and the high end area (think Louis Vuitton). Would I stay here again? No.

Replace outdoor carpeting on outdoor stairs. They are libellous. Our room was disappointingly small and tight.

I got rushes.

The location is amazing and in a safe area within walking distance of restaurants, pharmacies, etc. The staff was also extremely nice and helpful so props for them! Room however was very disappointing. Carpet was dirty and the place just had an unclean air to it. The bar next door is very loud as other reviews have pointed out. Would only recommend for very young travelers who don’t mind the loud noises and the subpar cleanliness.

Lovely comfortable room with a gas fireplace and small fridge and kitchen sink. Staff were friendly. But there was no hot water for the first 24 hours. I phoned reception in the evening to let them know there was no hot water and there was still none in the morning so I had a freezing cold shower! Also, the wifi didn’t seem to work. When connected, still showed as offline.

Such a great location and cute feel of the building. Everything one needs to enjoy Toronto.

Historical architecture. Close to Queen’s Park. No mini fridge. Not wheelchair or walker accessible. Very small rooms.

The Madison is a quirky and lovely old building. Our room was immaculate - only problem was toooooo many stairs! As others have said, people around the building were noisy at night, but we were prepared and it didn't interfere with a very good nights sleep!
