Location

The hotel is OK but it it need an update. Our room was fine but I am not sure I would stay at the hotel again if I visited PEI. There was an odor from the rug but it was better once we had it removed. I was a bit surprised that this was one of the best places in PEI as it does not live up to a true luxury status. It is fine but nothing special.

I love the uniqueness of this boutique hotel. The happy hour and hot breakfast were added bonuses. Love that guests learn even just a little bit about Canada’s start. By naming guest rooms after prominent and historical Canadians. Our room however was in need of some TLC particularly the bathroom. Linens were lovely but mattress needed to be replaced as we rolled into the middle.

Unique Breakfast

We had a fine stay at the Great George but I think the price point is off for what it is. It is branded as a luxury, 5-star property and the lounge / lobby area is lovely but the rooms (at least our room) felt like something our kindly grandmother put together. The closet door was broken and hard to open; the air conditioner was duct taped into the window and standing in the middle of the room; the bed was standing on top of plywood box frames. For $500 + a night, it just felt like it was time for an update. That said, lovely staff and the room was clean.

We immediately felt welcomed and at-home in the hotel. Our room was very comfortable and made a wonderful home base for our trip to Charlottetown. Everything was an easy walk from the hotel, which made exploring fun and stress-free. Would absolutely stay at the Great George Hotel again!

GREAT GEORGE HOTEL IS GREAT~! Location, immaculate in every area, delicious and substantial breakfast all in a hotel that was built in approximately 1997 yet furnished with comfy antiques, It is centrally located to walk into the shops, restaurants and theater in Charlottetown and down to the water's edge. Their concierge was most helpful in directing us to tours and activities to enjoy~! Definitely one of the best choices in Charlottetown~!

Everything was wonderful

The hotel has lots of character. Quirky, antique decor and old cottage vibe is what to expect. Guests were mainly older retirees. Breakfast was included which was nice. The hot dishes rotated every day. Our room was ok, but it was a bit slanted (I guess due to the old building). There weren't many outlets in the walls, and there was a large in-room air conditioner that was quite loud. The staff was very kind. Parking was included too. There was constantly piano music playing in the lobby area which was actually playing covers of pop music in a classical style. It was a bit cheesy. The hotel offered happy hour every day which included one beer or wine. They take your room number to make sure you don't take more than your daily ration. Our bed was comfortable. The window shades were cheap roller blinds and could be upgraded.

Everything is good

The hotel is situated in a great location, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were always happy to assist us with anything we needed, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Pretty basic breakfast for the price tag. Great location, friendly staff.
