A stunning historic location.
Lovely staff on the reception on arrival.
It was a special occasion for our anniversary and I had ordered prosecco to be in the room with a card. The prosecco was there but not the card.
The room was lovely, very spacious, lovely large bed.
Unfortunately the bed was too hard. It was great to sit on but not for a full night's sleep. I asked if a mattress topper could be added or a duvet which the hotel did do immediately. It helped a little and I did manage to sleep, but woke up with a bad back.
The room was very clean, including the bathroom. My only issue was we found some open olives in our mini fridge from the previous guest, but once I called reception this was dealt with immediately.
The room had a Nespresso machine, bottled water in the fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Nice to see coffee bags instead of instant coffee. It was good to have Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic
We had a meal at Chez Mal on our first night and the food was outstanding, it couldn't be faulted. The service was also fantastic. Our waiters Adrean, Maddie and Alex were excellent and so friendly.
The breakfast was good with a nice selection of freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit salad etc... You then got to choose a hot option from the menu and it was all good quality.
The area outside is lovely with places to sit and admire the building. It would have been nice to see some more of the history explained along the corridors as you walk to your room.
