This is a newly renovated hotel close to the waterfront, la Rambla and the gothic centre. The decor is elegant and modern. Breakfast is excellent. Despite my initial respite which I am going to describe below, in fairness, I have to say that the reception provided excellent customer service which is very important in the hospitality area. I booked two rooms with a sitting area. On check-in our friends were given a large room as pictured and anticipated. We were given a smaller one which overlooked the square (I.e. better view than our friend’s). When I complained about the different treatment, I was given the explanation that I asked for a room with good views (which I did) and I was shown a larger room with awful view which I didn’t like at all. As compensation, they gave my husband and me a free breakfast and brought in an extra chair as requested (as the room only has one chair). On departure day, they still apologized about it. While I am still confused about the room categorization they use as explained to me and as described in their website (is the larger room standard or superior?), I must say to the reception team we enjoyed the stay and are happy to stay again if we go back to Barcelona for a fifth time.
