The property was nice (outside). I liked that everything was in close proximity. You can walk to the pools quickly and the beach was right there. I did not like the rooms. They were very old and had a bad musty smell. The bedding was very uncomfortable. The sheets were kind of gross and my pillow had a terrible smell! The housekeeping was good when needed but the place needs a renovation. Also, when we got into our room there was spots of fresh paint (wet paint) like they just touched up spots right before we walked in. Not a great look as I stained my arm and shirt without realizing. The food is okay. I liked the steakhouse best.

The property is nice the rooms can use a little more upgrading. Staff is very nice, always looking for you at breakfast and dinner to seat you. Bartenders are great!!! Overall would visit again

It was everything I expect from a Riu. Clean, friendly staff, beautiful resort!!!

In one of the rooms we had, the AC wasn't working well, and the sink was clogged, but they fixed it when we called the front desk. Overall, our stay was nice.

Amazing !!! Marino is an amazing host at the buffet always had a table waiting for us night and day !!!

The property itself is beautiful. The rooms were damp and had a musty smell. All of my belongings felt damp at all times. There were a few roaches in the room. Not over run but still present. The room service offered the bare minimum. The entertainment was off site and not directly at the hotel.

The resort itself is pretty and the staff was nice enough. Some were a little pushy wanting you to sit in their section at the restaurants, but we were always treated very well. The rooms could have been nice except that they are musty and smell moldy. There were even mold spots on the mattress and walls. Nothing would dry because it was so damp in the room. There were roaches as well. The TV we had was not a smart TV so we couldn't log into Netflix or any other apps, which meant we were limited to watching whatever channel had English speaking movies on. There were 11 of us, so we had 5 rooms. All of them had these issues. The pools were also not as clean as other resorts I have stayed at. The beach was beautiful, but the amount of beach vendors was really annoying. You can't just sit and relax without someone trying to sell you something every 5 minutes. Sadly, I would not recommend this resort to friends or family.

Staff and property was beautiful

Property is amazing but at same time age is taking its toll, lots of “dated” conditions from basic wear and tear. Staff does great job keeping up but just so much you can do, time for a complete overhaul!

There was a lot of little ants in the hotel room. From the sink, toilet, sofa and even on the bed. There were also red/orange stains on the floor in certain area, not sure what that is. There was also a lot of dust in certain areas. However, my group also got the cheapest room, so if you’re getting a “higher price” room this might not be an issue for you. All the staff members were super friendly though.

Our room smelled like mold, bathroom pieces had rust bed frame was damaged, overall it could use some care/ remodeling. The mold on the wall was the concerning part, not sure if caused by the bathroom not having ventilation, but we were trying to spend as little as possible inside the room given this concerning issue. The staff was great and very friendly. The kids love the beach!

Hotel is good don’t expect to much. The food was mid. Employee are very dry I ask them question they didn’t answer. Seems they don’t like tourist but the beach was beautiful

It was an incredible experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The complex is beautiful. Food and refreshments were avaliable 24/7.

We have stayed at 2 other Riu Palace resorts prior to this one and this one definitely does not compare. The resort grounds are beautiful, the pools were great and the beach was clean with very few local soliciting vendors. Food was terrible except for Japanese restrurant and breakfast buffett. The previous two Riu Palace locations we stayed at had top shelf liquors and variety of beer this one did not. The tv in our room quit working twice during our 6 day stay. We were in our room one of times when they switched it out and quickly figured out why the room smelled of mildew. There was mold on the wall and tv was hiding it. The toilet would barely flush in our room and they claimed to have repaired it. You literally had to add water to the bowl for it to flush correctly. On our 2nd night there we ordered roomservice that never came. To sum it all up, we were highly dissapointed in this stay and would not reccomend it.
