Very nice Hotel and very helping staff

We stay at hotels over 60 days a year and have done so for the last 30 years plus. In that time, we have probably checked out early of 3 hotels. This is one of them. I totally feel for the staff who are fielding complaints. It is not there fault. The hotel feels unfinished, like they have run out of money. In fact there is no road yet to the hotel. The main issue is that the walls are paper thin. By this, I mean tbat you can hear conversations outside the room at the far end of the corridor. When you ontroduce squelling children and people having a party, expect to have no sleep. My wife is on chemo and rest is very important, we requested a quiet room but it was impossible to sleep. The noise is not just from the side rooms but above and below as there is zero sound insulation. It geeks like you are all sleeping in one big hall. The bathroom is poorly finished and dirty. The bath flexes when you stand on it. We left after one night and had yo repurchase another hotel...it was that bad. The hotel refused a refund. Breakfast is dire.

I thought the room and property were quite nice, new building and beautiful. However, the expensive dinner I had tasted mass produced: frozen burger patty, air fryer fries, soufflé from a box. For the price I think it’s overvalued, I liked the view but this was too high for the quality. Service was also slow.

Our stay at Design Suites Hotel in El Calafate was absolutely fantastic—easily one of the best places to stay in the area. The highlight? Without a doubt, the breathtaking view of Lake Argentino. If you’re booking, make sure to reserve a room facing the lake—it’s truly unforgettable, especially at sunrise and sunset. The hotel itself was spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. We also found that having a rental car made a big difference. It gave us the flexibility to easily access the main street in El Calafate and explore the surrounding areas without any hassle. Overall, a perfect blend of comfort, scenery, and convenience—highly recommended for anyone visiting Patagonia.

Mountain and lake view were stunning

Good: view, staff, size of the room. Bad: some windows make noises due to strong wind, cleaning staff barging in at 8:30am… not appreciated

Relaxing hotel with the best views of the Lake. Great to have a fulsome breakfast in a bright, open space. The staff was super helpful and friendly. While the location is out of town, due to the proximity to the lake, the shuttle service helps you get back and forth easily.

Overall, a great stay and the nicest place we stayed on a trip that had two separate stays in Calafate and a stay in chalten. Breakfast options were limited but better than other places we stayed. The pool looks bigger in the pictures that it is in real life. Happy with our stay

View was incredible, however hotel temperature was too hot throughout (think leisure centre vibe) Walls seemed paper thin as could hear everything next door. And the hotel wasn’t well set up for being busy. There were no clean tables to sit at for breakfast and lots of things not available.

Nice hotel by the lake Rooms are very large and beds are comfortable Most expensive buffet dinner we ever had and the quality/choice was not the best!

Excellent base for exploring Calafate region, but a little outside main town, so reliant on 10 min trip by shuttle (pick ups twice a day in or out of town), or 45 min walk to centre along lake. Hotel was wonderful - really friendly, responsive staff, great facilities and restaurant, clean, well designed rooms, good pool, great views over lake.
