Small gem in a great location for Byward Market, restaurants, shopping, museums and galleries. Good breakfast. Clean, comfortable rooms at affordable price.

This inn is very well located, conveniently near the busy restaurants and attractions, but nestled in a residential street so it is very quiet. We were able to walk to the parliament buildings, art museum, and the museum of nature. Check-in was a breeze and check-out straightforward. Parking is limited, but we arrived early and were able to snag one. There is a fee to pay, but parking in downtown Ottawa is expensive, so we are grateful for the spot. The inn has simple furnishings, but it stands out with tasteful paintings of all genres, from landscapes to the abstract. Even the staircases are adorned with oil paintings! Walking through the corridors is like meandering through an art gallery! The rooms may be small, but are clean and well stocked. There are even creamers for our coffee and a bottle of drinking water in the refrigerator! We were delighted to find a super large balcony overlooking the rooftops parliament buildings. Breakfast was simple but very very fresh. There was ample coffee and iced water all day for guests. The dining room staff is so attentive; we really appreciate their hospitality. Overall, this inn is a hidden gem in downtown Ottawa. We will definitely stay here again when we visit the capital again.

Vibrant original art lining the halls and in our room was a highlight. We also loved the small but thoughtfully stocked kitchenette and the tasty breakfast, including excellent coffee. While spare, the room was clean and well organized. Location was perfect, as we were headed to the National Gallery. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. On the downside, as older folks we found the bed a bit uncomfortable.

Cleanliness

Room was amazing, we were travelling from far so they let us check in early which was amazing.

The Byward met our expectations with a clean room, good bed, decent bathroom, kettle/microwave/fridge all satisfactory and a breakfast good enough to get you going for the day. Location was very good. Would certainly stay again.

Wonderful staff, friendly and flexible. They Ensure your stay is perfect. The upgrade rm was lovely and we got exactly what we asked for. The breakfast is well organized , varied with several choices and it is very good. The inn is very clean and the location is close to everything. Park the car for your stay and walk to what interests you.

The place is clean and comfortable. The ladies at the restaurant are kind y nice but the guys at front desk are not welcoming. One was especially rude and sour when I had some questions. I didn’t like that!
