Really neat old hotel with a lot of history. The spa area was really nice and rooms were clean. There wasn’t much interaction with staff. There were people staying there just didn’t seem like the service was the priority. On our second morning it was really odd they couldn’t seat us for breakfast at 7:45 and we had to wait. This made us late for our driver to leave for the day. Overall it was just ok.

This is a unique property and a total throw back to another time (the main house is from the 1890s). The traditional kaiseki was impeccable, the breakfast was delicious, and the property is gorgeous. Added bonus: hot spring water is piped to your room bath! We had a wonderful weekend hiking and exploring the area (loved the Open Air Museum), and we have already talked about going back on our next trip to Japan. For those of you who know Mohonk in Upstate NY, Fujika evokes a similar vibe. Thank you to the staff! Highly recommend.

The place is magical, historical place, the breakfast at Resturant. everything is silver, the wood carving, the hot bath , everything unbelievable. The best last man changing my plan because the tourist Japan company messed up. My trip caused me to find this place in this town.

The staff is excellent and helpful. The location is convenient to get to Hakone loop. The dinner in Cascade restaurant is excellent, 5 star delicious. The scenery surrounding the hotel is also very beautiful. Most impressive is the staff's outstanding service. It's almost like you are their life line.

Fabulous hotel styled after western (British) hotels of the 1800s. Thorough restoration from 2018-2020 has brought the hotel back to its glory days. Food and drinks in the hotel are pricey and nothing to get excited about. Hotel itself was amazing.

The Fujiya Hotel was an amazing experience. It’s a gorgeous, well preserved, historic hotel with stunning gardens and awesome amenities! We utilized the spa and onsen both nights of our stay and are very sad to leave! I hope I have the opportunity to return to this beautiful hotel!

Very historic property that was well kept and clean. The onsen was awesome with an outdoor view of the mountains. The Fujiya dining room was beautiful, enhancing the meal.

I felt completely at ease from the moment I arrived, as I was treated with the utmost courtesy. The restaurants and bars were elegant yet welcoming, and with many international staff members working at reception, the bell desk and in the restaurants, language barriers are unlikely to be an issue. It seemed that over half the guests were from overseas, and I imagine they thoroughly enjoyed their stay as well. I had stayed here before the major refurbishment, and at the time my impression was simply that it was rather old (though I assumed that was to be expected of a classic hotel). This time, however, the historic building has been beautifully preserved, with meticulous maintenance ensuring it is spotlessly clean. Furthermore, the antique furniture appears to have had its cushions and upholstery reupholstered, making it both visually appealing and comfortable. The hot spring facilities were spacious and comfortable, complete with a sauna and a cold plunge bathtub; I was surprised to find that the hot spring water was even piped directly into the bathroom in my room. I would certainly like to stay here again.

A unique property beautifully mainted to the the original standard it was built. Staff extremely professional. Enjoyed the fixed course breakfast and al a carte dinner but try and reserve upon arrival since there are very few alternative dinner options in the area.

If you are going to Hakone, you should stay, and stay at the Fujiya Hotel for at least two nights. This place is magical, and the staff are unbelievably attentive and kind. The onsen is the definition of relaxing and has amazing views. The massage and facial were amazing. The western breakfast was so good, and the dinner at the restaurants in the hotel is worth the price for the experience. Don’t miss your opportunity to stay here if you pass through Hakone!

This is a fantastic hotel with so much history. The staff were so lovely and accommodating and the facilities with the onsen, the garden, the bar, the lounge- everything is so lovely. They even upgraded our room view which was very nice. The only odd thing was a particular waitress that were serving us in the Japanese restaurant and also in the breakfast hall the next day. She was insistent on us buying a sake pairing when we didn’t want to. For the breakfast she also insisted we buy the breakfast package even though we had already ordered something else. I also found it odd that she gave us the bill before we had finished eating and she seemed to forget about our breakfast for 40 minutes. Other than that, it was absolutely amazing. The rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and professional.
