This was my first time in Brazil. Hotel staff did not speak English and no other people either. The room was big and comfortable, clean, the breakfast was good, and staff helpful. Was warned about the safety of the area, did not look worse than anywhere else, and usually poliscars in every corner, but didn't go out late evenings.

Hotel is right in the middle of São Paulo’s “skid row” — surrounded by homeless and drug users. Very unsafe. Do not stay here, ever.

It was a decent getaway for the price, got to escape reality on the top floor with very little sound coming in. However, the neighborhood isn’t very safe. It’s best to make sure you stay inside until morning

The hotel itself is fine. Great, friendly staff. Nice lobby. The rooms are big. WiFi works. Bathroom big with good water pressure. Clean. Comfortable bed. The negatives are the area. To say it’s “sketchy” is an understatement. The streets are filled with homeless people and I was woken up several times during the night by people on the street screaming or fighting. It’s a shame because the staff are awesome. I never felt in danger, but there are certainly much better neighborhoods in SP.

This place is very central and in walking distance to the main areas of city. So much traffic so a lot easier to walk. The area looks quite dangerous but a lot of police patrolling streets and positioned on corners. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Overall happy with the stay here.

Nice adequate hotel. Reasonable included breakfast. Shower, taps, toilet all working and no leaking. The air conditioner was a bit noisy but worked perfectly and drowned out the outside street noise. Nice helpful reception staff, but very limited English, which is common in Brazil; ie most people do not speak it. I stayed in this hotel twice: once for 4 nights and once for 2 nights. On the second round, my laptop could not log into their WiFi, as they had changed some settings, and the young man who was in charge, spent a lot of time trying to help me with my laptop. Finally, that night, after I came back to my room, it had been fixed. The rooms was clean and was cleaned daily. The mattress squeaked a bit, but was comfy. The area is rough; it is in downtown and there is an army of homeless and unhygienic people hanging around. They are harmless though and did not bother me. This area is said to be unsafe in Lonely Planet & Eyewitness travel books, but I did not see any lack of safety. Despite being a rough area, people minded their own businesses. The area, not considering some of its poor homeless people, is nice to walk about and there are plent of Brazilian restaurants and fruit shops around. It is near easy reach of Praca De Republica and its metro station. The main airport’s, Guarulhos, bus service station is also in the Republica. Taxi cost me R$93 from hotel to airport. The bus costs R$50.

Good hotel on the edge of a rough area with lots of beggars and vagrants although I always felt reasonably safe for Brazil. Always seemed to be loads of police around.Very close to republic park which was a gem in the middle of an urban desert lots of things going on during the day and early evening, music and local dance. weekends brought in hundreds of stalls selling crafts, food, jewellery and semi precious stones all at reasonable price. On Sundays all the local artists would show up to display their works. Not so good after dark when the rough sleepers moved in and the ladies of the night. There were stalls every night and day well worth a visit. There is also a pedestrian shopping street leading down to the beautiful concert house with plenty of stores of interest and local food. Metro is chaotic at busy times, taxis cheap and always waiting outside hotels and tourist sights.

The hotel is old but clean . The staffs were helpful. All was well. The only objection is that it is in a rough area in São Paulo.
