We paid more and booked an executive room. It was on the third floor with sloped ceilings. Quaint but it meant we had to keep ducking when moving around the room so annoying. There were dirty towels left in the bathroom on the back of the door from previous guests so room not checked properly. Cold tap in the sink was a dribble. This needs sorting. Shower was pathetic. Lift smelt. I wouldn't have been so disappointed if it wasn't for the fact that I had paid more for this room. Would not book again

Very friendly staff. Although the hotel is dated inside, it's very clean, the bed comfortable and the room is cleaned daily. The food in the hotel bar is good and reasonably priced.

When I woke up in the morning , I noticed the bed sheets were covered in brown stains , the place seemed a bit run down and decor was jaded, I won’t be rushing back there

Nice sized room and was clean. It was a very hot day end of May 26 so the room was very hot. They had winter quilts fitted so we asked for a lighter 1 was told there aren’t any. Spoke to head housekeeper in the morning to be told we should have been given an alternative so have to assume as it was after 11 the receptionist couldn’t be bothered to help. Check in and it was very straight forward .

Originally, I was going to write a negative review about the Grovefield House Hotel. When I arrived, I was given a small room which was boiling hot and the tiny fan on the table didn't do anything to cool. Apparently, it's a listed building so they can't do anything regarding air conditioning. The shower in the room was a small cubicle, behind the door, that was difficult to move in and wasn't helped by the lack of water pressure and also didn't run cool on such a hot day. However, when I went to finally go to bed, I noticed a ceiling full of mosquito-like flies: I could not sleep there, I would be bitten like crazy through the night. Now, this is where things become positive. The lovely member of staff on the desk very quickly moved me to another room around the corner and apologised for the issue. This new room was much bigger and cooler and the fan was much better. The shower was above a bath and the pressure was acceptable - still no power shower, but did the job it needed to. In the morning, I had a lovely breakfast before finally going on my way. In conclusion, this has taught me to not buy the cheapest room if I stay there again, instead go for the king size bedroom which was much, much better. All-in-all, it was a nice enough hotel. Very scenic, but that does mean lots of night insects... don't leave your windows open.

Grovefield House proved to be a real gem for my wife and I. From the first impression of arriving at the well tended car park and entrance portico, then meeting the staff on reception, who were friendly and accommodating. The place has a nice ambience which is not over the top. It's just pleasant and easy to get along with. Our room was spacious and had a nice bay window overlooking the rear grounds. It was well appointed with a 'traditional' air to it. There was a bath with a super shower above. We loved the spacious grounds which we explored. Food in the restaurant and at RaRa's grill to the side of the premises was varied and not over priced. My daughter and family met us there on one day and they too were suitably impressed. Just a nice place to relax and also handy for exploring the local sites such as Clivedon House. We rated it...

Nice Charming hotel, it no air con and the room was quite warm for spring May. Free parking, nice area. Bathroom shower head was high for me and not powerful. Breakfast was very nice but very small portions when we ordered the full English breakfast.

Beautiful old Manor House converted into a hotel. Very quiet location, plenty of parking facilities, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely restaurant overlooking the grounds, breakfast was beautifully cooked and served. I’d certainly use this hotel again.

Staff were great, Rara bar next door was great too. Rooms need updating, taps didn’t work properly, lift was dodgy too. Not bad for the money though
