The property over all needs updating, but very good service and the food is good, in puerto plata I think it’s the best resort, this was my 4th time there.

Great resort by the beach. The staff was pretty good and the buffet was pretty good also. In terms of affordability and quality, this is probably the best place in Puerto Plata. The rooms are also very spacious. And they all have patios.This was my second time there and I would probably stay there again.

Very well maintained older property. Service and staff was excellent. There was always something to eat but food was not great. Our room was very clean and serviced daily housekeeping was exceptional. Our view and location was beautiful. My only complaint is I booked a premium room near beach all the pictures of this room type show a couch, our room had an empty space with no couch. This was not able to be rectified during our stay.

If you're planning on visiting this resort...Go for it! I just came back from a solo vacation on 04/25/25 and regret nothing. As a solo traveler, I was a bit scared to be alone. This was my first time out of the states solo so of course, I had some concerns. Once I arrived the staff made me feel 100% comfortable. Leo, was some I spoke with prior to arriving and he assisted with getting my transportation setup from arrival and departure. He set up my excursion and was extremely informative with all my questions and concerns. The pools are cleaned. and it does close at 7 but it's to service and clean the pools. I swim bars are cleaned. The beach is beautiful and kept well cleaned. But keep in mind you will find people coming up to you to try to sell you things. Food options: I read through the reviews and seen many advise to try the Japanese restaurant. They were 100% correct. The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive to everyone. The buffets are good and clean. I recommend getting omelets made for breakfast, it's delicious. The desserts and fruits are for sure delicious as well. The Mexican restaurant was not that good. But it's expected considering it's DR. With all that said, I recommend coming here. Solo traveler or not, you will have a good time.

I just returned from an unforgettable stay at Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada, and I can confidently say it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience seamless and enjoyable—especially Liz at the front desk. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful, not just for me, but for my entire family. Traveling with a newborn can be stressful, but having someone like Liz who genuinely cared and understood our needs made all the difference. The dining options were far better than I anticipated. Iberostar has completely changed my perspective on the all-inclusive experience—delicious food, great variety, and quality ingredients. The air conditioning in the rooms was ice cold (just how I like it), and the beds were firm and incredibly comfortable, making for great sleep each night. The pool was clean and well-maintained, and I loved that there was an option to purchase top-shelf alcohol. Even Route 66 nightclub was a great time—it’s rare to find entertainment on property that actually delivers. All in all, everything was simply amazing. Iberostar, thank you for an incredible stay—we’ll definitely be back!

I love the treatment of the staff. The food very good. My room really clean very good experience.

A wonderful relaxing location for our family of 5. Clean and cold rooms, friendly and helpful staff. We had no problems with the water, the food was better than average. The property is a little older, but certainly not rundown by any stretch. You cannot beat the benefits for the cost; highly recommend.

The staff is very friendly and helpful! There is limited parking and for the most part the food is average. The beach is beautiful and clean.

The rooms were okay and very clean. The FOOD was AMAZING! We didn’t even check out the other 3 restaurants on site(you need to make reservations). the buffet offered so any different options and the food was delicious (steaks/chicken/fish) all kinds of salads. They had a snack bar as well that offered a great selection of foods for lunch/snack. There was always a restaurant open so you can grab food. Many coffee machines available throughout the resort Entertainment- AMAZING AS WELL. they had an activity calendar and it was from 8am-6pm filled with fun activities(adults or kids). The kids club was great for the kids (Barbie and Julianna were so lovely). You had the option to leave your child with the staff depending on age (4 ) and they had activities planned throughout the resort for them. The beach was very clean although if the water is not calm you cannot swim for safety purposes. Pools were okay Overall it was a great vacation.
