Staff were really helpful, and the food was really, really good.

The King Robert Hotel is a simple but clean and comfortable hotel on the outskirts of Stirling. The rooms are spacious, and the breakfast is both good and reasonably priced. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful.

This was the last hotel of 19 hotels, on a month's road trip. The staff, when we arrived, were fantastic, but definitely understaffed and overworked. How they managed to keep smiling and friendly, I do not know. We had decided to treat ourselves to a "deluxe" room. It was anything but deluxe. There was only 1 comfy chair, the view was supposed to be "garden" it was not a garden, a fence with a tree or two and grassland. Our stay at a different hotel, 2 nights prior, had a bedroom double the size, with 2 comfy chairs, a bathroom again, double the size. It also had a balcony with a table and 2 chairs, overlooking a river. It was £30 cheaper than this hotel. The reception area of this hotel, was lovely and well maintained, but walking through to the stairs, it was getting grubbier. When we got to the stairs, the carpet was filthy, frayed and coming away from it's fastenings. The walls were filthy, scraped and dented. Very badly maintained. The bedroom, was at least cleaner, but in no way can it be described as deluxe, there were not even any tissues. Definitely not worth the money we paid for it.

Parking was super limited so we parked on the street but the breakfast was top notch!

Afternoon lady on the reception was lovely and really welcoming. hotel clearly going through some renervations, its tired and a little grubby. Room was large and had everything that was needed including a hairdryer, opening window and fan > these are usually needed to be asked for so that was nice. The room did have a smell to it, seemed to be from he bathroom, unsure if this smelt of urine or if it was a bit foisty, but looked clean. so i didnt complain. The hotel was very busy, booked 100% needed if you wish to eat in the restaurant. (the food is nice) Other guests not so quiet, door slaming, shouting and lots of children running about unsupervised, the hotel is very large, may need some extra staff to watch cameras so this can be managed. Breakfast was basic but did the job. Overall not a bad stay.

The staff where really helpful. The rooms are clean. The meals where good the Bruce chicken was really nice. I was working early and rooms where quiet. But would occasionally hear someone walking by.

The food was really good. Wide choice, well presented. The room was clean, although one or two long hairs round the outside of the shower tray spoiled it a bit. The staff were helpful and engaging. I'd certainly stay there again.

For the price the hotel is outdated and run down. The stay was confortable and the breakfast was great.

I almost wrote this hotel off, given that from the outside it looks like soldier accommodation in Aldershot. How wrong was I. The hotel, its staff and the food are all nothing short of exceptional. I travel alone a lot for work, and this place by far exceeded all expectations.
