I don’t normally write bad reviews but feel I have to as my experience differed greatly from the many positive reviews I had read.
On arrival at the hotel I was told the lifts were not working (there had been no communication about this prior to arrival which I would have expected) luckily I am fairly fit and could manage the 4 flights of stairs to my room. If I had been travelling with my mother, as I often do, this would have been a very different story - she wouldn’t have managed one flight. When I enquired about booking a table in the restaurant I was told it was closed over the weekend- again there had been no forewarning of this, in fact I had received an email inviting me to book a table! The bar was serving a very limited menu (4 items) which was ok. On entering my room it was quite spacious and looked clean, however, when I went to make a cup of tea the spoons and cups were filthy - the spoons were covered in a brown substance (chocolate mouse? I hope) this made me question what else had not been changed/ cleaned since the previous occupant. I hope it was just an oversight. The staff on reception did replace the cups and spoons when asked and said they would report it to housekeeping. The kettle was also dodgy, I had to hold the button down in order for it to boil as it kept turning itself off.
There was also a lot of noise, on such a new build I would have expected the rooms to have some sound proofing but this was definitely not the case.
Very disappointed.
