A lovely old grade 2 listed house. Excellent location for Poole Quay and harbour. Parking in visitor’s public car park just across the road. Overnight parking is very reasonable. David was a fabulous host with plenty of stories to tell and the house is full of interesting “stuff” that he has collected. Delicious breakfast cooked to order. Our room on the second floor was very small and hot, but the others are bigger. Best to ask David before you book. Would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for a very convenient location when staying in Poole it would be hard to find one better than The Merchant House. Friendly owner who cooks a decent breakfast.

Great location, less than 30 seconds to the quay. Room had everything you'd expect from a b&b. Fabulous breakfast, there was even an option of standard or large size! Would stay again if we're in the area. Friendly, welcoming host.

Georgian house now boutique hotel. Very welcoming owner/manager, who's furnished it with interesting art and other historic items. Good fresh full English breakfast. Short walk to harbour sea-front and to High Street shops.

The property is in a perfect location to explore Poole and sail over to Brown Sea Island. The owner was such a lovely gentleman who made you feel very welcome and provided an exceptional breakfast. The room however was really only fit for a single person as the small double was against the window wall so when you needed to get out of bed you had to wake up your partner in order to get out of the bed which obviously disturbs sleep and the bed was quite soft also. The room itself was tiny too but clean with a nice little bathroom and tea coffee making facilities, even disposable eye masks and ear plugs. For one night I would recommend as lovely little place as you can put up with the tiny room and disturbed sleep but wouldn’t want more than that, which is unfortunate as host just lovely, location perfect and breakfast amazing.

Comfortable stay and a great location. Easy parking in the multi storey across the road. The breakfast was epic.

Stayed here a few time and always found the owner friendly polite and helpful ,doesn't do evening meals but you just walk to the quay and it takes 3minutes and you have the restaurants pubs. The breakfasts are large you would not starve . Definitely recommend

David is a very special host And a stay at The Merchant House is a rather special experience. You are a step away from the quayside and from restaurants etc

David was an excellent host and the veggie breakfast that he cooked to order could not be faulted. His homemade bread is delicious. Our room was cosy, but had everything we needed. Good powerful shower :) Great location for eating along the quayside. David's restaurant recommendations were spot on.

This is a unique and characterful place to stay, close to Poole Quay. David is super friendly and helpful. He is a font of knowledge on the attractions in the area. Excellent and very filling breakfast in a lovely dining area and you get to meet Bentley too.

We had a great stay at this interesting house. The host was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, warm and well appointed, and the breakfast was just amazing. Will stay again!

The place was really dirty the host was ok but our room had so much dust and dirt you could have set up an allotment in the room, the bed well there is nothing good about that, the mattress was as old as the building and the springs have gone, awful nights sleep, if we hadn’t been stay just for the night we wouldn’t have stayed,

The room was warm and cosy; the location was really central and easy to find. David was super friendly and made us a wonderful breakfast including home-made sourdough!
