Our experience at Whittlebury Hall did not reflect the four-star rating.
Our room was not in the main hall but in the paddocks, about 500m away. It was located above what appeared to be a campsite toilet block, and every time it was used the sound of the hand dryer fan carried into our room.
The facilities were poor. The in-room hairdryer did not work and was falling apart. The bathroom had mould, and the drawers in the wardrobe were chipped with exposed chipboard in the corners.
Breakfast was another disappointment. We had an early departure and mentioned this in advance, but a takeaway breakfast bag was not offered until we specifically asked.
Overall, the stay felt below standard and not in line with the hotel’s advertised four-star quality.
