OK, but expected it to be cleaner and friendlier staff for such a nice looking location.

First time staying at hotel. First impressions good in general. Only complaint is the stairlifts. Trying to get my disabled partner to breakfast in the upstairs restaurant was virtually impossible. One stairlift had been left at top of stairs with no way to bring it down and other stairlift was out of order. Why can't the breakfast be served in the ground floor restaurant? Especially as its near the only elevator in the building?

Went for afternoon tea which was lovely. Also stayed the weekend and dined in both the bistro and restaurant. Lovely food and tasing menu with wine flight was a great experience.
Staff were really good too.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in such gorgeous surroundings.
From the drive up to the car park, the walk through the walled gardens to the elegant reception hall everything blew us away. Then we got to the room and once again our expectations were met and exceeded. What a beautiful room we had (304). Sumptuous bedding on what could only be described as huge and lovely decor throughout.
All staff were amazingly attentive and enthusiastic. Beautiful food on the brassiere and then had some time in the wine cellar bar. Breakfast was the finishing touch to the night away and again was incredibly delicious.

1. There was a large crack in a window pane that was covered by masking tape. Clear tape would have been better to disguise it. Simple change.
2. The bath had a LOT of scratched chips out of it.
3. The spare toilet roll holder was at shin height so it made you sit on the toilet at an angle.
4. The bed was so close to the fire surround that you had to lean slightly to get past, after you had moved the elephant decoration statue out of the way first.
5. There were those ultrasoft pillows on the bed that you sink right into and when asked if we could get some firm pillows reception didn't even know if there were any available. Supplied us with more soft pillows instead.
6. Cobwebs around the ceiling and cornices right around the room.
7. Has a silly decorative serving style trolley doing nothing but no where to place a suitcase, never-mind 2 cases that would not have been in the way all the time.
8. Brasserie is one of those places that automatically add a 10% tip that you have to ask to be removed rather than being something you add to show an over-and-above experience.
9. Had wrong prices on bill, more than the menu stated.
10. Decor in the Brasserie and fine dining restaurant was trying to be modern in an old castle that you would expect the internal to match as part of the experience.
The quality of the Brasserie tables and chairs was severely below expectations for the type of place it was portrayed as.
11. Even though the room was a good size it had no sitting chairs

We booked afternoon tea with overnight stay. The place was very clean but some areas were quite dated, bathrooms and general toilets were modern & spotless. Staff were excellent; friendly and attentive. Food at teatime was lovely. The only two negatives was that some places were quite dark as using artificial candles, even receptionist struggled to see room number on the key when we were booking in. The other was afternoon tea was disappointing plus supposed to be with ‘Bubbles’. I have to agree with other customer negative reviews on the food. We were given one - under half filled glass of bubbly. When we asked if we could have another drink we were told we had to pay for it. This was a gift which I know was not cheap for what we received. Apart from this it was a good experience.

Really enjoyed it, room was nice and breakfast was very good as well.
Had afternoon sandwiches at the Brassiere and then ate at the 1851 in the evening.
Wine cellar bar was very nice as well.
Will visit again.
