I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers. Hotel Portobello is advertised as a 4-star property, but based on my experience, it felt closer to a 1-star hotel. The facilities are outdated and in serious need of renovation. The rooms and common areas look worn down and poorly maintained, nothing like the photos shown online. The overall condition of the property does not reflect a 4-star standard in any way. For the very high price we paid, we expected comfort, quality, and a well-maintained environment — instead, we were extremely disappointed. The value for money is simply not there. This hotel is significantly overpriced for what it offers. A 4-star rating suggests a certain level of quality, service, and upkeep, and unfortunately, this property does not deliver that experience. The only positive part of our stay was the housekeeping service. The maid did a good job keeping our room clean and making the bed, and we truly appreciated her effort. However, that was the only highlight. Overall, this was not a 4-star experience, and I would not recommend it at the price they charge. Travelers should carefully manage their expectations before booking.

Amazing staff. Great location. The pool bar/restaurant has a great vibe. Love the breakfast Beds are small and need to upgrade to fitted sheets. We woke in a bare mattress. Ownership need to improve the rooms.

Nice to stay in Salvador

The hotel was clean if a little tired. The staff were great. All very friendly and welcoming, we enjoyed an evening at the pool bar which was lively. Salvador is a great place and this hotel provides a Great base to explore it. Only a short walk to the beach or a stroll to the light house or a quick taxi in to town. PS if your a bit on the large size like myself it’s a bit of a squeeze getting through the shower door.

Kudos to the staff who went out the way to assist me as my Portuguese was limited. I can’t say enough great things about them!!!

The hotel looks good and has ocean views and is clean and staff is number one. Internet is horrible to non existent. Shower was dripping water all over, toilet wouldn’t flush and the bathroom floor was wet all the time. Bathroom was tiny. Fitness center and pool were a complete joke. The food is awful and service is slow

Café da manhã razoável. A limpeza do quarto estava ok, mas encontrei várias formigas pequenas andando na cama. Percebi que elas se concentravam embaixo da coberta utilizada como decoração, que estava suja e provavelmente não foi trocada com a mudança de hóspede. Conversei com a equipe e pedi que não a utilizassem novamente. No mais, esse é o primeiro hotel que conheço que tem um salão de eventos no mesmo andar dos quartos. Geralmente, o local de festas fica em um andar específico e conta com isolamento acústico. Não é esse o caso. Fiquei extremamente desconfortável com o som alto do evento que teve durante a minha estadia e, principalmente, com a circulação de inúmeras pessoas que provavelmente não estavam hospedadas no hotel. O evento não ficou até muito tarde, mas ainda assim, não foi agradável. Os funcionários são gentis, especialmente o rapaz que trabalha durante o dia auxiliando os recepcionistas.

Quarto razoável, um pouco apertado para 3 pessoas, banheiro e box pequenos. Colchões antigos e desconfortáveis. Boa academia e area de piscina. Preços.caros do restaurante para comida e bebidas. Cafe da manha com boas opções.
