This was a magical little gem that we found about 15 minutes outside of Lisbon. The resort was beautiful, the AC worked really well in the rooms, everything was clean and you could tell they really put forth effort into every detail. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made every day. The staff was delightful and spoke English very well which was really helpful. They even hosted a festival dinner that we attended that allowed us to meet some new people and listen to some music while enjoying local cuisine. We loved waking up and going for a walk every morning right along the water after breakfast and then sitting by the gorgeous pool. We truly loved every minute of our stay here. Worst thing I can say about it was that the WiFi was very spotty and challenging at time but if you can unwind and unplug, then run don't walk to get there. We want to check out other Vila Gale properties next!!

The hotel is great with poetry has theme in the setting of a old and well maintained palace. The rooms are in a new wing, and as expected are modern and quite new. Plenty of restaurants and great food all-round the property and Lisbon at a 10 minutes taxi ride.

The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, Wonderful location and views are breathtakingly beautiful. The breakfast buffet is good but not awesome . Same with the dinner. Room service was a bit slow and the soup arrived ice cold. Other than those two negatives, I’d definitely stay here again.

Coffee was scarce. Staff seemed to think it was a huge favor to provide coffee. Common areas were extremely hot.

We loved the hotel and its location. Breakfast was great and stuff very friendly. The grounds are nicely maintained and we were able to enjoy the pool (towels are in the spa). There was no iron or ironing board in the room which was inconvenient.

We stayed for 9 nights. The first impression was as we expected of a 5 star luxury hotel. The conseirge/luggage carrying guy was fantastic - a really nice welcoming. Couldn't remember his name - it was the same first name as the general manager I think he'd said. The room was very comfortable, clean and really spacious with a massive bed. We had a view of the pool and the gardens. I like the old part of the building with all its character and private chapel. The new part is kind of bolted on which is novel but kind of works. The new part has maybe a corporate feel? I don't know, couldn't quite pick up on the vibe. Strangely it seemed pretty quiet in the hotel, not many guests? Perhaps in peak season theres a bit more atmosphere with people using the pool side bar. But having it quiet was quite nice, we felt we had the hotel to ourselves in a way. Location is good - areas are easily accessible by taxi or train - Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra etc. Breakfast room - a lot of attentive staff. Plenty of fresh and good quality breakfast options to keep you going. It would have been nice to have had an initial greeting and introduction - timings, what you can drinks you can ask for etc. You can order a 'pack up' if you're out and about and miss breakfast. I have a couple of negatives. We needed an information booklet in the room.. Is it that we're expected to find everything on our phones nowadays? Also..drinking water providers would have been handy - dotted around the hotel.

The room was clean, staff were very attentive and nice, breakfast was good, the outdoor and indoor pools were good. The issue with the hotel was the decor and comfort levels, which made it feel like a 4 stars hotel, but definitely not 5 stars. The rooms are all quite bland - beige and brown everywhere! Without a hint of charm or Portugal. Missing things like slippers, cofffee and tea making facilities, which I realised, on the last day, had to be requested from reception. The indoor pool looked worn and sad. The bar areas and various lounges were dark, uncomfortable and sad The seating everywhere in public areas was uncomfortable. It’s quite annoying that this hotel could really be so much better with a little thought and interior decoration. The layout is ok, although there’s a lot of walking and few lifts to the room levels, although I presume it’s the nature of the actual building and mixing of new and old. The chapel is amazing. On the whole the stay was disappointing and frustrating, as there are other choices with much better charm, comfort and service levels. ☹️

Hotel is close to the beach but not the most convenient for getting to Lisbon, but of a walk to get to our room which was in the new building and saw few ants running around.

Not a 5* more a 4* sunbeds around pool old and uncomfortable, not the ones on the web site, spa pool towels very old and thin, breakfast very good, what makes this hotel is the staff, they are all young which was a surprise but just friendly and professional, as a solo traveler they all had excellent customer service. especially Erica, Joao and John in restaurant.
