My wife and I drove from Milan past Lake Como, headed to Switzerland. As we began to tire, we decide to stay at a quaint village in the Italian Alps, so picked Villa San Fedele for price and location. It was a very good choice.
Owner was very accommodating. When I asked for a location to by a bottle of wine, he opened up his kitchen and I picked a nice bottle from Montpulciano for $15. Room was very large, especially for European standards, breakfast was certainly above adequate, and we headed into Switzerland the next morning, less than $100 poorer than having arrived, including our bottle of wine.
I would have no problem advising people to stop here and enjoy the beauty of the Alps for a day or two.
