Great location. Rooms where clean however linen not changed regularly. the unit and shower door not closing properly. But the restaurant food and ambience was top notch. Enjoy the pool.

This hotel boasts an undeniable advantage: its prime beachfront location. Waking up to the sound of waves and having direct access to the sand is a definite highlight for any beach lover. However, my experience was somewhat tempered by the room itself. While clean, I found it to be a bit small for my comfort, and the furniture felt dated, giving the space an "old school" vibe that wasn't quite to my personal taste. This ultimately influenced my overall rating. Despite the room's shortcomings, one individual truly elevated my stay: Zinhle, the receptionist. Her attentiveness and genuine kindness were exceptional. She noticed it was my birthday and, to my complete surprise and delight, personally presented me with a thoughtful gift. This unexpected gesture of warmth and generosity truly made my day and left a lasting positive2 impression. Zinhle's outstanding customer service is a shining example of hospitality at its best.

This used to be one of the nicest hotels on the Durban beachfront in the 80s and 90s. When I stayed here in 2018 it was still good. Seven years later The Palace has really deteriorated due to an evident lack of maintenance. Cleanliness is also questionable as there was food from a previous guest left in the fridge in my room. The location is outstanding and the staff are friendly and helpful, but those are the only reasons to stay here. First Group needs to refurbish the hotel immediately to bring it back to a high standard.

Our shower door didn't close completely so after every shower our floor was drenched in water. Most of the towels supplied went for soaking up the floor. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Lavita spa was exceptional. Restaurant food was fantastic.
