From Jodi's welcoming words and driving up to the Lohhtkeepers House we felt we had stepped into a special place. The location is just like a beautiful story, with the lighthouse circling above through the night you can feel transmitted back to ages past. The house itself is perfect. The Fairy Penguin Colony and wallabes the wander in to the yard make it perfect as you sit on the enclosed porch with coffee looking out prrched above the water. We will long remember our too short stay and dream of going back

Amazing cottage. Very clean with the best equipped kitchen we have had in our stays in Tassmania. Warm comfy bed (electric blanket)👍best thing was the gas fireplace while watching the Winter Olympics as weather was cold for us . 5 ⭐️

We loved our stay in Low Head - it was so peaceful and tranquil. The Pilot's cottage was adorned with all we needed and you felt like you are away from it all. The cottage itself could be modernised a little, but it wasn't really an issue. Wifi is not great, but it was amazing to disconnect too. We felt like we wanted to come back for a week!

Cottage was quaint. Compfy bed and a good gas heater. Kitchen was well equipped. Nice hot shower. Even though there were instructions for wifi there was no wifi avaiable for the whole 3 days of our stay. And mobile phone reception is almost non existent. There are no staff on site Tuesday or Wednesday but there is a kiosk selling coffee Thursday to Monday.

Washing machine doesn’t work. No one responds by message and call. The place is dirty, mould on the walls and windows. I can’t believe that it is preserved heritage.

This is the second time we've visited the Low Head, George Town area and wanted to stay at the pilot station. We were not disappointed; these charming old buildings are in great condition for their age. We had trouble with the gas heater in our unit but Jodi from the kiosk came to the rescue. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment and parking was onsite and close to the unit. These units are old and have some "quirky" features at times. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip. The museum is well worth a visit too, there is so much history in this part of Tasmania.

Historic building on large land adjoining mouth of river. Opportunities to take leisurely walks, go on Penguin Night Tour, fishing, dipping feet in water and relax. Communication via email. Key pick up and drop off via a key box. Guests to wash dishes and empty bin before leaving. Comfortable enough stay, four separate rooms which are very soundproof with the thick walls, the temperature inside was cool during the day and warm at night, which was perfect, the mattress was firm. A few small maintenance issues- Kitchen tap needs tightening under sink, flaking paint or surfaces were painted over uneven/flaking paint, brown water stains along and under window and on heater in bathroom, cracked counter top behind hot plate, chipped laminate top on kitchen table. The conservation of these historic buildings deserve to be treated with loving care to honour their historic integrity, they also deserve considered interior fixtures, fittings and design that embraces and enhances their beauty.

Spending a couple of days in a historic cottage was fantastic, the modern inclusions a bonus. We stayed in one of the Boatman’s cottages constructed in 1860 which features a separate bedroom, lounge, dining room/kitchen and bathroom, the gas fire in the lounge kept us toasty warm as did the wall heaters in bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The whole precinct was a joy to stay in as was the surrounding village of Low Head. The on site cafe had very good meals. We loved the ability to order a heat and serve pre-prepared meal which was waiting in the cottage for us, we ordered the Moroccan Lamb Tagine which was succulent and delicious. Would definitely stay again.

We have wanted to stay here for some time and it didn’t disappoint. The cottage was excellent all bar the couch was uncomfortable but this was a small inconvenience. The setting was fabulous.

We absolutely loved how different and unusual staying at a light house was. The wildlife were gorgeous and having the beach right at our backdoor was awesome. Anita was easy to contact at all times. I have already been asked by a few people how they can stay there. Thanks for an amazing 3 days. Krissy,Nat and Julie!

Each cottage was unique. Clean, tidy, & filled with normal household/kitchen items. Close to penguin parade, nice walking/riding tracks. Would have loved to try cafe out a few more times, but closed on Tuesday/Wednesday. This is not a criticism, just bad timing on our part.

Spent two nights in the‘Boatman West’ cottage, during our trip around Tasmania. The accommodation is rustic but quite comfortable. This cottage boasts a free standing bath which is wonderful. We were able to cook in the well stocked kitchen. The area is quiet and perfect for walks and bike rides. There is a coffee shop/cafe on the site, and also a maritime museum. Georgetown is only a 10 minute drive away where you can get supplies. There is no laundry on site (which was indicated in the accommodation information). Low Head lighthouse is around a 1km walk and very worth a look

The heritage boatman's cottage was beautifully appointed with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, heating in all rooms and a very comfortable queen bed. Surrounded by the lawns of the historic pilot station and just a few steps from the cafe, museum and Pilots Bay, we enjoyed a very relaxing and cosy stay.
