Location was perfect and staff were very good

Everything generally not up to standard cleanliness across hotel not good. Breakfast poor and cold. Service of bedroom shocking we stayed 7 nights never changed the bedsheets or clean the room. Staff breakfast time helping themselves to food before customers. Never going to stay there again.

Rooms are well done but lobby and other spaces look a bit tired. Checkin staff were great but the others seemed a bit grouchy.

Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel is located right on the beach, the ocean is just a step away. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The restaurant is open for limited time frames but room service is available throughout the day. Loved the view from our room, to get the sea view you have to book premium sea view. Comfortable beds and pillows. The staff was courteous and helpful. The Wi-Fi was spotty especially during peak usage but the view, the sea, sun and sand make up for it. Food service maybe slow at peak times but you need to understand that food is made to order and NOT premade. Breakfast is a delicious spread of Sri Lankan and Western dishes, with a good selection of breads, fruits and juices. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality at Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel.

Do not stay here, possibly one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The room was barely functional, the glass to the balcony was majorly cracked, the bathroom barely stocked with 1 towel and a tiny piece of soap, the fridge was dirty and broken, we had wires coming out of the wall where lights were suppose to be. The food at breakfast was disgusting, I asked for a clean table and they proceeded to seat us at a dirty table without any effort to clean it and left the previous guests dirty napkins! I honestly don’t understand how this hotel is supposedly 4 stars. It should be shutdown.

Pros: - Hotel personal is welcoming and friendly. - Beach is amazing. The best on in Hikkaduwa. If you enjoy swimming, you will love it. - View from the room is perfect. But you have to book the Premium Ocean View Cons: - Towels are not as clean as you would like them to be - Be aware of bugs in room - Cleaning stuff do not wipe floor and have to be reminded to change towels.

The place was dilapidated and renovations taking place. Staff was pleasant. However the beds are not comfortable.

Good location

This hotel was amazing- I already want to return! It’s located on the less busy section of the beach which is perfect, the room was stunning with a wonderful view from the balcony and I even had a view of the beach from the shower. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They were very good at communicating with me via email beforehand to arrange my transfer and to extend my stay too. The breakfast was nice though I’d recommend booking it in advance as it’s much more expensive to pay when you arrive.

Check in was difficult as they couldn’t find my booking, then we waited a long time after

Very nice hotel. Gave us a room right at the beach. Great value for money, though not as professional as the Cinnamon /Citrus there, but definitely the best value for money. Prompt service. Though breakfast was the same everyday over the course of the stay, with not a lot Mediterranean options.

Rooms are marginally good.

The swimming pool's tile cuts and i have got cut in my hand and legs

This is more of a hostel than a four star property! It is noisy and in serious need of a refurb. The pictures on the site must be 10 years old! Being unhappy with what we encountered after check-in, we asked for a manager but the staff weren't very helpful. After checking out early the next day a 'manager' appeared then went off into the back office only to return to say there was no refund on offer. I lost money on three nights accommodation but there was no choice but to check out. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all!

I booked a deluxe room as pictured and was ushered into an old looking room. Other than the ladies at reception most other staff seemed disinterested and we had to wait about 1 hour for lunch to arrive

Absolutely filthy hotel. The room smelled like an ashtray and overlooked the busy main street, which was very noisy. There was a little blood splatter (possibly from an insect) in the middle of the bed spread and the bathroom smelled like sewage. We refused to check-in and asked to see the manager, who took about 20 minutes to show up. When he arrived, instead of apologizing for the problem, the manager was defensive about the cancellation policy. I told him I didn't care about the money and that we were leaving. As we were heading out the door manager offered to show another room with a partial view. I didn't want to be impolite so we looked at the other room offered, which was equally dank and had a view of their generator and the beach beyond. I then realized that we were not on the same page. To me this hotel was filthy and smelly and the manager did not see it that way. We took a tuk tuk to the other end of the town and just walked into another decent looking lodge. Checked in on the spot for 1/3 the price as this miserable hotel and stayed there comfortably for the rest of our time in Hikkaduwa. Overpriced and below par. I think this hotel caters to large tour groups that do not have a choice. Just avoid it if you can. Bad recommendation hotels.com. I may never use you again.
