This is a high-end destination place with a wonderful pool. However, if you have a pool, people will use it; if they use it, you need to have staff who can make sure it's clean and that there are enough towels. If you offer water, make sure the jug is full. As for the room, look at the photo in the website: even a standard room has a curtain over the bed to soften the harshness of the whiteness of the room... it's not too much to ask to have the actual room match the one in the photo... Finally, when you have a parking issue--the lot is five minute walk from the hotel--make sure your staff is trained to deal with people coming back from dinner after 10pm. We had a problem they apologized for, so no need to repeat the experience. In general, great potential with properly staffed facility (just because you are full doesn't mean you cannot serve your guests). For the kind of money this place commands, please make the effort upfront and not apologize afterwards.

Gorgeous, extremely unique, and chic boutique hotel perched on the top of a hill in the heart of the surrounding village. Unmatched French charm with fabulous dining, a quiet, authentic, local setting, and extremely friendly staff. Definitely a lovely, off-the-beaten-path luxe stay in the south of France.

Amazing setting and property especially for the value

We had the most wonderful stay at La Vieux Castillon! The hotel and views were idyllic, the staff kind and attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. We visited as we are considering hosting an event at the property, and were particularly impressed with Salomée, who was professional, knowledgeable, and able to answer all of our questions. In short, we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to escape the city and recharge!

Our second visit to what has become our favourite ever hotel. Absolutely stunning, peaceful and welcoming. Love everything about this place, we will definitely be back for a third visit asap! Can’t thank the staff enough for being so happy, helpful and hard working.

Probably the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in! Absolutely stunning place. The grounds went on and on… the pool area was amazing… the fine dining restaurant was superb. Our room was huge and the decor was exquisite. I could go on…. The only problem was we couldn’t stay another night as it was fully booked!!!

Beautiful spa hotel. The pool area is stunning. Small and friendly. Lovely breakfast area. Rooms are cozy but lovely. Only issue was that our suitcase was damaged by whoever took it to the room. It wasn’t new so we didn’t mention it but it would have been nice for someone to tell us given it was pretty obvious it had fallen down stairs or something similar given it’s state by the time it arrived in our room.

Peaceful, beautiful

This is a beautiful hotel and was great EXCEPT we stayed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday nights and no one told us the restaurant would be closed on Monday and Tuesday and that the bar would be closed on Tuesday as well!! The town is tiny all but one restaurant was closed on these days and it was full! When I asked where we could eat , I was told you get in your car and find somewhere which given we had been out all day we did not want to do . I have never stayed in a hotel where the bar was shut! The hotel seemed very busy so this made no sense. Why did no one tell me at booking or at check in that the restaurant and bar would be closed?

Fantastic pool. Gorgeous view of countryside. A courtyard made for morning writing or an afternoon nap/drink under an olive tree. Serene. Situated in a small, quiet and quaint hilltop town. We’d return in a heartbeat! We’d return in a heartbeat!!

Beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms. However, the food was really not good value for money (especially breakfast) and the drinks are extremely over priced. There’s a delicious restaurant round the corner where you can get steak and bottle of wine for half the price of a meal with one gin and tonic at Le Vieux. Also, better care could be taken to keep the pool area clean. When we came down each morning it was not clean, there were dirty glasses, champagne corks etc lying around from night before, and no clean towels were available, only yesterday’s dirty ones. For the price, this should be a perfect stay, but its not

We loved our stay in Castillon-du-Gard. October is quiet, so dinner options in town are limited to the hotel, but the hotel transports you to an earlier time in history. The rooms and beds are comfortable - a beautiful place to stay.

Great place to stay in the lovely old town of Castillon Du Gord. A beautifully quiet and well run boutique hotel with lovely pool and spa facilities. The resident parrot was highly amusing!
