Excellent hotel. Beautiful character room with good facilities and spotlessly clean. Very helpful and friendly staff, especially welcoming at check-in and although busy, they showed us to the room. Would definitely recommend, we will make it our go to hotel in North Yorkshire.

The room was clean and warm, as was the bathroom. The staff were very helpful. However, the bed was quite uncomfortable. The springs made noise and pressed into my back whenever I moved.

Clean room, good food, friendly staff

Excellent staff very friendly and the food was very good indeed. Cosy and intimate bar which welcomed our dog and we enjoyed our meals. We stayed in the cottage opposite so very easy. Room was lovely and clean bathroom good size a more comfortable bed would be beneficial for future but fully recommend.

We had been before and appreciated many things including the meals, which we feel were slightly less special this time. We would also have liked 2 chairs in our room, plus net curtains as the windows looked straight out onto a pavement with passers by. Also the lavatory kept blocking, but eventually righted itself after much flushing.

It had a level of courtesy and old fashioned quality of service ie. placing a beer mat under a pint to prevent a wet table at dinner, able to order your meal (evening and breakfast) from the table, being shown to your room. Oddly enough based in Yorkshire they dont serve Yorkshire tea !!! However they have an excellent range of craft beer.

It wasnt the worst place Ive ever stayed but it was expensive for what it was. The decor was very tired and pretend French,it just didnt work somehow. Small things were wrong like knob off wardrobe door and bath plug didn't work.Breakfast was very good though

I had a choice of hotels in Leeds or the Black Horse. I'm so glad I chose the latter. Some extra driving, but great to be in a historic building in a historic area, and so close to the motorway and service station.

Nice rooms generally. Mine had a quirky shower. Superb food. Superb gluten free fish and chips.

A 1 Night business stay. Food was good, room warm and comfortable and clean with a good amount of character. All in all a very place to stay
