I've stayed here previously. It's a shame this place isn't a functioning pub anymore. Shame to see it go down hill. That said, the room was cheap and basic which reflects the property.

Really couldn’t be more impressed. We were expecting the typical room above a pub, but it was incredibly comfortable, clean and ideal for our stay in the lakes at the bank holiday. Absolutely well worth the money!! The bed was one of the best beds I’ve slept in… so impressed: we will be back.

Basic but functional stay. Completely acceptable for the price you pay. Digital access to building and room worked well and I assume keeps costs down. More of our closed down pubs should be converted along the lines of this model. Absolutely fantastic pub just across the road with great food, beer and vibe. Completely fine for a one night stop.

We stayed last night as a stop off to do a walk today. The room was clean, warm and the bed was comfy and had tea and coffee making facilities. The location is good for the lakes if you want to break the journey, takeaways are 5 mins away in seascale along with a coop. It's not fancy, but for £45 a night, it did exactly what it needed to for us.

The doors operate on a keycode system so it's very much an air bnb set up rather than a staffed pub. There are very few instructions of where to go or what to do. The room was quite dirty - thick gunk in the shower, a pube, hairs on the bedding and a stained bed base. The room was also absolutely freezing after the radiators switched off at 10pm. I woke up at 2am cold and slept in my hat. There were no additional blankets, no electric radiator, loads of condesation and damp on the inside of the windows.

Booked 3 nights but left after 2, the room was absolutely disgusting, the walls were damp, a pipe was leaking. The room hadnt been cleaned, no staff turned up as i believe the pub downstairs and the accommodation are now seperate

A second comfortable stay here with friendly owners/staff. They don't serve food but were happy to refer me to a competitor across the street, where the food was great. Situated in the centre of a small village with narrow streets so parking is just around the corner. The car park provided gratis by the village but donations for upkeep are welcome.

Only downside was an extractor unit which ran round the clock. A bit like sleeping on a ship or aircraft, you quickly got used to it. I’ve booked another stay, so it hasn’t put me off.
