Everyone there did what we did and had their suitcases transported separately so they could hike Cotswold Way. Excellent vegan options for dinner and breakfast. Free drink upon arrival. Walking distance to Cotswold Way, the castle, and all downtown shops.

A very pleasant 2 night stay. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Food in the restaurant was very good. Rooms had been updated and were done to a high standard. Our room did become a little hot due to a sunny day and just windows to allow in the air. Breakfasts were excellent but at busy times I felt for the staff as they were definitely stretched though they did their utmost to keep everything going. Well done to them. We would stay again for sure.

Really lovely room - cute with sloping ceiling and nice touches. We had dinner in the pub that was excellent with great service. Breakfast was good - one course - would have been nice if there had been a cereal / yogurt and fruit option to start with, service at breakfast was a little slow - initially to be acknowledged and then served - we were the only people in the pub for breakfast. There was a problem with the shower - too hot / too cold and would not turn off. Told staff to be told there was a problem in the other rooms and the switches weren’t very good - which was a bit disappointing as it suggested they were aware. But overall evening meal and service more than made up for some slight disappointments.

Didn’t sleep due to noise coming from the kitchen room 4 and the shower didn’t work and was dangerous.

To be fair the restaurant and bar were very good. Hotel? Very noisy. If you want to stay up late, close the bar and are a heavy sleeper then this place is for you. Original room was above the kitchen. A fan or pump went on and off all day and most of the night. Changed rooms and the restaurant and bar noise was bad until late. It was a weekend. Due to downgrade of room when we moved a partial refund was promised. Not received nor communication returned since. Obviously not recommended.

Gorgeous room in a comfy pub. Staff were welcoming and friendly, offering tips on walking routes and things to see and do in Winchcombe. The breakfast was excellent and a pint by the fire was welcome after a day's walking.

The lion inn is a charming old pub with a pretty garden and we had an okay stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean , food was good, and our room was quiet. However, the property is tired, the shower was tricky, carpet had stains and the wifi didn’t work. Staff were underwhelming and we felt it was overpriced .

The room itself was beautiful and the breakfast was good, however…we had no electricity in our room (no plugs, no TV etc.). We did not realise this until we can home from a wedding by which point reception was closed. I therefore called the reception in the morning and politely asked if they could send someone to take a look - the answer was no because she was working alone and didn’t know what was wrong because the switchboard looked fine. I said fair enough but what time will someone be able to look, she was unable to provide an answer. I understand this is a small pub with a small team but if you are charging £225 for one night, you expect to have electricity or be offered an alternative room or a partial refund.
