Nice hotel but if you want dinner go somewhere else in town. My so called salad was made of thin slices of Lidl’s sausage, 4 halves of cherry tomato, 2 shavings of cucumber and lots and lots of onions. The bread it came with was good. My husband’s schnitzel was dry and tasteless. The beer was good and staff friendly but we were left disappointed.

Although the food was good, the service was bad. The bench was dirty and my husband destroyed his only one cycling shorts (we made a bike tour). The waitress was nice, but the administrator did not even apologize. They did not even propose to make a laundry for us or to pay for it even though they had their hotel connected to the restaurant. And we ordered the most expensive food from the menu. They could at least offer us a free drink because it was their fault. We left the restaurant with an unpleasant feeling and thought that if it would be a man in an expensive suit they would treat him with more respect than us, simple bikers.

Generally very nice, attractive building, well maintained, Brasil themed restaurant serves simple but very tasty dishes accompanied by wine and cocktails in a terrific outdoor beer garden. Breakfast selection was also better than average with the best Marble cake I have ever had. Downside: service in the restaurant/beer garden was slow and despite reviews saying the opposite, the adjacent road was very busy and noisy well into the night. Also no cooling in the rooms- not normally an issue for me but we reached 31 Celsius yesterday and my room was a sauna! Recommended. (But try and get a room at the back on the 1st floor as this will be both quieter and cooler.

I stayed at the hotel during holiday season so unfortunately the restaurant was closed. Room was large and clean. Nice view of the church and abbey. Free designated parking outside the front of the building. Mettner is a lovely historic village. Good access to motorway. Will stay here again.
