I chose to stay at this property due to the location, for that it was perfect, extremely close proximity to Nottingham and a great stop off on my journey. The downsides. First off, given the price of the room, I wasn't expecting much at £80 a night, but I certainly was expecting more. Upon opening the door to the room I was met with a foul odour that stayed with me for the whole night. Walls were marked from where prior customers have rubbed their luggage against the walls, the bath plug was missing, stolen or removed by the property to not allow the usage of the bath. Overall the room was dirty and not what I expected when entering. Amenities are what you expect, hair dryer, towels etc. No shampoo or conditioner, only hand wash. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I have stopped off in cheaper hotels than handle themselves much better. I would not recommend staying there, even though the location is great, you can get stays at a similar price in central Nottingham.

Stay was ok. Family Room: Spacious, even with 2 childrens beds (full single size) set up despite our booking had only 1 child. Big criticism is that those beds were very uncomfortable: basic, hard & no padding, could feel the springs. King size bed was more comfortable though also requiring a thick padded layer. Gave our shoulders pins & needles so we had to use all the spare pillows which we may not have had if the room was correctly made up. Bathroom & main bedroom lighting like floodlights. No low level lighting in the bathroom. Could do with a desk light. Bedside lighting good. Good that the Room did not smell of old hoover/carpets(?) & the Window could open a few inches for fresh air: unlike some other motels. A few large cobwebs. Signs of water damage in the bathroom by the shower. Decent coffee in the room (coffee bags) but only 3 sugar sachets for a 2 night stay for 3. Decent hair drier. Restaurant: a lot of seating upholstery at breakfast was filthy and stained! Really grotesque looking. Needs a good clean or replacement. One of our wooden chairs broke. Very warm at breakfast and windows didn’t open. No yoghurt in the Continental breakfast. Cooked breakfast - sausage was awful, very cheap; bacon was charred & tasted of lots of different meats, I think it was cooked on a dirty flame grill. Very off putting. American pancakes weren’t good, & sadly came with defrosted frozen fruit which was soggy & sharp. Expected fresh. Sunday dinner service was slow & inattentive.

The hotel room was like the standard room you get today as in the layout a bit like most hotels. The check in is quick with no issues you do this in the pub. The room was for some reason an accessible room, the bathroom had an odour of urine and when I looked why I could see the waste at the back of the toilet had a leak and the floor was stained, the room was very tired and is in desperate need of decorating the walls are marked with general marks from being brushed up against etc the wall by the kettle has water marks running down from desk height to floor the base of the bed has some sort of mark on it and the curtains do too. The aircon is in need of service and bearly changes the room temp, it also switches itself off. We were given 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single quilts instead of a double. Poor tea facilities kettle not fitting under the tap very well just add to the issues here. This could be a lovelly place to stay but needs to be cleaned, decorated and then cleanliness needs to be moved to the top of the priority list. It was expensive and I expected a little more, on the whole it was disappointing in my opinion. The pub is a nice pub we didn’t use it except for breakfast which was good. Next time I think I would stay elsewhere.
