We booked the entire Domaine de Kerzuat (reception hall, cottages, and dormitory) to celebrate our children's wedding. The setting is, admittedly, splendid! The venue has enormous charm and potential for hosting such an important event. The reception hall is pleasant and bright. The location chosen for the secular ceremony is ideal.
It's a place that could truly be exceptional.
But unfortunately, several things spoiled this wonderful first impression, both from our perspective and that of our guests!
Firstly, only the area designated for the secular ceremony
was mowed the day before we received the keys—but not cleaned up. The freshly cut grass clippings were left on the ground, which isn't very tidy for a celebration. In general, the upkeep of the estate clearly leaves much to be desired. The grounds are neglected: tall grass, undergrowth, and overgrown pathways. The venue seems to rely on its natural charm without any real effort to enhance or improve it.
The reception hall itself is pleasant, but the cleanliness was frankly appalling: windows covered in dust, the cloakroom in a questionable state—we had to clean it ourselves to remove cobwebs and spiders. For a reception venue meant to accommodate dozens of guests, this is unacceptable considering the cost of the exclusive rental! (€7,000 plus a cleaning fee of €280, even though we left it cleaner than it was on the day we received the keys... the same goes for the cottages!)
As for the cottages, here again, a huge disappointment: visible dust, cobwebs and spiders on the furniture and window frames... A faulty toilet in one of them, mold on the walls, and to top it all off, two slugs found in the dormitory by a guest!
In summary, a beautiful place, which has everything to be exceptional... but which today gives the impression of a certain neglect, they are resting on their laurels... It's really a shame, because with a little more rigor and attention, this estate could be a gem.
