I had a very disappointing experience at Ibis Budget Bugis Singapore.
The most serious issue was a breach of guest privacy. Early in the morning, a front desk staff member knocked on my wife's room door and, after waiting only about two seconds, unlocked and opened the door without receiving any response. My wife was still inside the room. The staff later explained that they mistakenly thought the room had already been checked out, but this kind of internal miscommunication should never result in entering an occupied room.
At check-out, a senior staff member asked the staff involved to apologize. Unfortunately, the apology felt reluctant and insincere, as if it was only done because they were instructed to do so. My wife even had to advise them that better coordination between staff members is necessary.
To make matters worse, my wife accidentally left a box of chocolates in the room after checkout, but the hotel never informed her that the item had been found.
Guest privacy, safety, and professionalism should be basic standards for any hotel. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations. I hope the hotel reviews its procedures and improves staff training to ensure this never happens to another guest.
