We had a wonderful time in Charleston and the room was the cherry on the Top! After a long day walking the bed was so comfortable, the room was nice and cool! Also, we could have just hung out at the hotel and had a great time, it was a museum of wonderful antiques, amazing. The breakfast was outstanding and the Host were fabulous!

If you are looking for a historical perspective and place to stay, this is definitely the place!! A small tour upon checking in, and a room that is a part of history!! Close to everything and right on the Battery!!

Exceptional historic home turned B&B in the most heavenly little spot in Charleston! Staff were warm and welcoming with quick and easy check-in and checkout. We were guided on a lovely tour of the home as well (highly recommend this if time allows). The room was spacious and updated; extremely comfortable bedding was a major plus after a long travel day. It was a joy to sit on the front porch in the morning while enjoying the ocean breeze, watching horse drawn carriages trot by, and seeing all the visitors to come to see the beautiful park. This is truly a wonderful place to stay and one of few opportunities to stay in this area of the city; highly recommend 20 South Battery!

Check in was great. Interesting property. 5:00 reception charcuterie board was very good but BYOB as no alcohol was available gratis or otherwise.

The staff are phenomenal. We received a text prior to check-in with specific details to ensure check-in went smoothly. Be sure to complete the tour early in your stay, especially if you're staying in a ground floor suite. I appreciated the focus on hydration as Charleston is warm in June. The on-street parking worked well as most of the available spots opened after 4:00 p.m.

We were in town for just a few days and wanted to stay near the Battery. We found this hotel and the pictures and reviews were amazing. We didn't mind spending $1500 even though we could've spent half that on a nice hotel elsewhere in the city. We thought we were going to love it and really wanted to. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Before going any further, let me say that Ryan was amazing and very helpful with questions. With that said, the problem was the room itself. We were placed in the bowels of the hotel underneath the porch in what I constantly referred to as the sarcophagus. Anytime someone walked on the porch it reverberated in our room. You could hear talking and people returning drunk from a night out. It was miserable and I would never stay in that room, or any of the other rooms in the "sarcophagus" again. The property feels a little long in the tooth and needs maintenance and refreshed. The paint on the area outside the café was peeling badly. We had problems with our plumbing in the room (sarcophagus 6). The cold water in the sink and shower would just stop for a few seconds and then spit and sputter and come back on. This also happened with the toilet. Every time it was flushed the cold water going into the tank would make a horrendous noise refilling the tank. Also, I was very disappointed in the parking, which was on the street, and not on the property as we'd expected.

I really loved this hotel. It felt like a true Charleston experience and the staff was amazing. The location is fabulous too. My one suggestion is I'm always bummed to see the tiny plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles in this day and age. Half the product doesn't come out and they get thrown away after a use or two, which is so wasteful. This is such an elegant hotel, I hope they transition this in their showers sometime soon. But still highly recommend!

An incredible, historic hotel. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. In addition the staff was excellent at recounting the history of the place and the surrounding area. Very well located, really enjoyable, especially if you like history.

Hotel cancelled last minute (while we were on a plane) and had no availability despite us having an invoice that showed we had paid in full. Had to rebook for a (much more expensive hotel) further from the action in Charleston. Two hours on phone to secure rooms in alternative hotel. We were visiting with some friends from Scotland. Quite the worst experience I've ever had on Hotels.com or in a hotel generally. And what's more....Hotels.com don't seem to believe the PDF of our invoice...that they sent us!!!!!

Cool, historic inn in a beautiful part of Charleston. Richard was a gracious host, and we enjoyed wine and charcuterie on the porch. A note re: our room. We booked a room that was on the "ground" floor, which was more or less the basement or carriage house floor. It was fine, but I envisioned something a little different. Also, as we were drifting off to sleep, there was a sound in the walls that sounded like scratching...almost like an animal was in the walls. But, all in all, we enjoyed our stay there.
