The room was clean and the site was beautiful. The cost was absolutely worth the stay. The room and facilities had some broken cabinets but otherwise was fine. The food was okay, we are vegetarian but could put together something every meal. The on site entertainment was not professional but it was fun.

When we arrived we were told they had lost electricity and did not have a room for us for the night and arranged to put us up at a different place for the night and that they would have the issue resolved for the rest of our stay. But the place they sent us to was TERRIBLE! Just dirty and run down. We felt we had been down graded from what we had booked! We had book thru Expedia so we had to reach out to them for help so we were moved to a different place for the night but were told to go back to Dos Playas for the rest of our reservation but AGAIN we were told they did not have a room for us and blamed Expedia for cancelling our reservation. We had to spend hours on the phone AGAIN trying to get help to find a place to stay. The receptionists at Dos Playas were not nice NOR helpful with the whole ordeal. I would NOT book with them again.

For my husband and I it was perfect. We are in our early 30’s but we don’t like to party. The hotel had enough going on to keep us interested and it didn’t go into the morning hours. You do hear a lot through the windows, but I didn’t mind. The room is basic and that is perfect for us because we just need somewhere to sleep. The food was very good as well and all the staff members are incredibly nice. The peacocks that roam the grounds are amazing and as an animal lover it was an amazing surprise! I read a lot of reviews being negative on this place and I can see some points as this isn’t the nicest place on the earth. It was enough to make us happy, budget friendly, respectful and I am very happy I didn’t listen to the reviews and stayed here!

All the staff I interacted with were kind and helpful. Mr. Pool at the snack bar was the best bartender! This is a nice place to stay if you aren’t wanting to spend a ton of money! You get what you pay for. The food is okay. Room was clean, but outdated, and the bathroom smelled of raw sewer. The beach is gorgeous! Plenty of chairs in the shade and in the sun.

Didn’t get a king bed, room looked out on to construction area. Beach small, place is really run down. Some sewage backup in bathroom. Super small hotel. Pay the extra $1000 and stay somewhere good. You DO NOT want to be here. I thought I booked a good deal, but I was had. We left 2 days in and went to another hotel in the middle of the hotelera zone and had a blast.

The resort is fine, plenty of staff and food. We went with our 11 year old and probably would not go back there with kids as not much for them to do. Always found something to eat at buffets or dinner. Drinks are ok, open later in the day and close early! Our plane got deplayed so we got in at 1030. Nothing is open for food or drinks at that point, not even a fountain soda machine. The shower leaked horribly and no water pressure and bathroom sink leaked with water all over counter. When we first checked in they gave us a room with no balcany. Every picture online in booking shows the standard room with balcony. They did not want to switch but eventually did when we were going to book elsewhere. We were the only americans there and could not understand the shows as everything was in spanish( which is fine as we are in mexico!) But every other resort does both

This “resort”’should be demolished. It is year 2025 and the property is barely standing. Food is mediocre, the rooms are falling apart. I am on vacation and i had no peace at any point. House keeping is having full conversations with each other at 7 am. Screaming kids everywhere.. Check out is at noon and yet they knock on the door before 9. Barely anyone speaks English which isn’t a problem, but it’s hard to tell who works there and who doesn’t. 2 restaurants offering the same food most nights. There is no air conditioning anywhere. Only certain numbers work for the safe. The fridge has seen better days. They give you 2 bottles of water… that’s it. I have been coming to Mexico the last 10 years and this was the worst place i have ever stayed at. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more at Riu next door. The beach is beautiful and they try to keep up with the palm trees, but everything else is a disaster. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me. If i could give it 0 stars, i would.

The suppers were decent. The breakfasts and lunches were mediocre. The resort definitely caters to Spanish speaking guests as the staff had fairly minimal English at best. The view was beautiful- however, there is no lounge area inside for guests when it is raining, as the main restaurant closes between meals and the bar is outside. All the facilities are outdated and should have an upgrade. We took the upgraded room for an added fee of about $100usd and the full mirror was chipped at the bottom, the bedside light had rust at the ceiling, and the wallpaper was starting to peel. The locking latch on our window broke on the second day and even though we were told someone would come fix it, no one ever did. The shower is small and as we are both around the 6 ft mark, were almost bumping the shower head with our head. The best part of the resort is that the view is amazing, you are next to the ferry to Isla Mujeres, and if you tip, the service staff will treat you well. It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t stay there again.
