everything was good

It was a great stay for the night before a flight. The food and service was fantastic. Highly recommend for the budget travellers.

Would recommend, I was just passing through as a solo traveler needed a one night stay, and it was perfect for what I wanted a nice bed a very clean room and a very hot shower. The staff were great and could not do enough for me.

This is an inn whose primary purpose is providing excellent food and drinks to their guests and the wider community. They happen also to have five en suite rooms to let. I was not their ideal guest in that I have digestive issues which mean my diet is very restricted, especially when I’m travelling. Consequently, the food and drinks side of things was irrelevant to me. I made do with the local supermarket, knowing what I safely can and can’t eat. But for the vast majority of their guests, I’m guessing this is foodie heaven. So other reviews would suggest. I can only judge from the accommodation angle, which is perhaps unfair. The room was quiet, an acceptable size but in need of some TLC. The wifi was slow and clunky. But, on a positive note, the price was more than reasonable, to be honest, the only reason I chose the Riccarton Inn. There is a bus to Edinburgh city centre right outside that takes around 35 minutes, it seems to go every 15 minutes or so. The local supermarket, a few minutes walk away, is well stocked with basics and run by a local family who work very long hours, from 7am to 10pm weekdays, slightly less on weekends. As I said, I’m not their prime demographic, so in a way this is an unfair review. I wouldn’t go back because the comfort levels weren’t high enough. But, if good food is a priority in your life, then go for it.

amazing stay! The bed was SO comfortable! We had such a restful sleep! The bathroom was clean, modern and spacious. We can’t wait to come back!!

Amazing place. Great place, great food and great staff. Our room was small and cute and comfy and we will certainly be coming back here.

Lovely outside area, the room was very clean. Complimentary coffee and cookies were appreciated. Staff very friendly.

The Inn has an antiquated toilet- the type where the water tank is up high then you pull a chain to flush. Light fixture in the bathroom is a chain pull as well. Although old everything worked as it should. The food at the Inn was especially good. Good value accommodation.

For the price and easy access to airport- can’t be beat. It is very dated and bathroom is not the greatest (clean but old and a bit mouldy). Bedroom was clean and more updated- relatively quiet but stayed on a Monday night- would likely be louder on a weekend or quiz night.

Chose for location to airport. Room and bathroom looked like it had not been updated since the 1970's. Mold on grout in bathroom. Bathroom door did not open fully or close. Noisy room with beer garden outside. Room finishes need to be updated. Tiny room. Only 18" between bed and wall on one side.

The Riccarton has good food but it’s not a great place to stay. The room was small and windows were right onto the outdoor seating & terrace. Since we were there on a Monday, there weren’t many people, but even so it was distracting. When I complained about the room being cold I was told nothing could be done. Imagine my shock when I raised the shade completely in the morning and discovered both windows at the top were open - and could not be closed. Finally, I asked for a taxi to be called for 6:30am and apparently the woman never did that because it never arrived. We had a flight to make and ended up calling an Uber.

Friendly and kind staff. Convenient location in quiet area only 15 minutes drive to the airport. Good food right at the Inn as well, so made short stay easy and comfortable

The room was very small and it was a lot of noise because of traffic. The mattress should be replaced. But the staff was wonderful and the food was excellent!!

Ideal place for what we were needing it for, our evening meal was delicious, the corner cafe down the road was ideal for breakfast.
