While the service was top notch this is NOT a 5 star resort. It is at best a 3 star resort with 5 star prices. It is a bit tired and in need of a major face lift. The louver doors between the dining room and pool were broken and in need of replacement as were the sunscreens, we had villa with plunge pool with broken and rotted outdoor moldings, broken trim on bathroom mirror, rotted shelving in bathroom, very poor finish trim work inside, and paint job that certainly lacked pride in one's work. One morning we had no water in the unit. Unfortunately when I called the desk no one spoke English. If you do not speak French consider somewhere else as English is not widely spoken or used anywhere we went on either side of the island. This was supposed to be a scuba dive trip for me and the resort website claims diving "nearby" it was 2 hours each way and a 220 euro taxi ride to get to the "nearby" diving. Kudos to Linda for getting management to comp the taxi ride. Which brings me to my last point nothing and I mean nothing is easily walkable from this resort and you will need to rent a car and once out and about deal with traffic that rivals downtown NY. Figure min 30 minutes even to go only 10 or 15 miles. Beautiful beaches but the island is not ready for English speaking visitors and I for one would rather not spend by holiday sitting in traffic to get anywhere. I have stayed in many resorts in the eastern Caribbean and the cost of food and drink at the resort... OMG!
