We were exploring Altea and had booked at another nearby hotel, which was also lovely but the street noise was pretty terrible. Ironically, the first hotel staff told us about a great place for breakfast at the Boutique Casa del Mar. We tried it and the food was very good (lots of options) and the staff was super nice and welcoming.
We decided to give the hotel a chance since it faced the Mediterranean and none of the rooms faced the noisy street. It was absolutely the right choice. From the moment we made the reservation to the time we checked out, it was a great stay, and breakfast was included in the price.
Our room, #6, faced the water and we could hear the waves crash as we fell asleep. The room was well-equipped (loved the makeup towel!), tastefully decorated and had nice linens and towels. The hallways were filled with beautiful local art. My only complaint was that the room was a bit small so it felt cramped. However, once you open the windows, it was perfect! We really enjoyed Altea and the hotel is in a great location -- you can walk up to the old town (not for the faint of heart) and the boardwalk is filled with restaurants and shops. And.... the beach is right there!
Free parking is available at the train station if you don't use public transportation. The train is a 5-7 minute walk.
Our room was on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator. We didn't mind, but something to be aware of.
