Tried to set up the air conditioner to cool down the room but couldn't. Had to open the window and the noise from the train station was unbearable

Issue with the reservation, phone in room did not work, front desk staff unwilling to help. TV is outdated and randomly shuts off

Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Compensation – Incorrect Room Type and Poor Service To: Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt Management Attn: Mr. Tino Terbhardt, Hotel Manager CC: Hotels.com Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Raz Kalo, and I am submitting this formal complaint regarding my stay at Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt from November 27, 2025, to November 30, 2025, Upon arrival at the hotel—after a long and exhausting journey including a 7-hour drive, a 2-hour flight delay, and an additional 1.5 hours at passport control—we were informed at the front desk that no room was available for us. Furthermore, the receptionist, Ms. Daniela Sanchez, suggested canceling our reservation and finding another hotel ourselves. This response was shocking, highly unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. After a lengthy discussion and with no reasonable alternative, we reluctantly agreed to stay the first night in a room with one double bed and a sofa, despite having specifically booked and paid for a room with two separate twin beds. We accepted this only after being assured that the issue would be resolved the following morning and that we would receive the correct room type. The next day, after leaving the hotel at 7:00 AM and returning at 7:00 PM, we expected to receive the room we originally booked. Instead, we were again assigned a room with one double bed. When I asked Ms. Sanchez whether this was indeed the room type according to our

Stayed three days and the room was not cleaned once! Towels however were changed once, and the second night I had to get them myself. Staff said it was my fault as I did not put the "make up the room tag on the door."

Very clean, friendly and professional staff. Only thing is that breakfast items aren't being fully replenished - hence I'd recommend to have breakfast early. Otherwise, a very pleasant experience thanks to their polite and excellent staff.

Great location next to the train station. The rooms were clean and modern, and the staff was super friendly. It was nice having the lounge and bar too for relaxing. The lounge area is huge for a smaller hotel!

Easy to find

Very impressed with this hotel. The room was fabulous and even though it overlooked the main railway line, once the windows were closed it was silent. Spacious with a comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. The breakfast was excellent too. We were able to park our motorcycle free of charge undercover next to a cycle rack. Only negatives were the young man on reception when we checked in was a little glum shall we say and lacked enthusiasm, although he was polite and professional. Everyone else was very friendly and welcoming. Hotel is very modern and does seem to attract business clientele but it is a half hour walk into the centre of Darmstadt. We found it easier to walk through the main railway station which is close by. Not sure we would revisit Darmstadt though.

Large modern rooms. Kettle with tea and coffee provided. Good breakfast. Easy access to underground parking. Perfect stay for overnights. A/C was really good and quiet.

Overall the property was fine. The staff was great! VERY friendly and VERY helfpful. They even arranged a 2pm checkout when we woke up late. The only negative was the. AC. Even though the rooms are supposed to have air conditioning, they did not. It was unbearable. We were changed to a different room - same problem. And the same for our travel companion. We had to sleep naked and without a covering. The shower also had a problem: the water did not stay in the shower space. Instead it covered the bathroom floor and made the hallway carpeting wet too.

I do not advise anyone to stay in this hotel. They give you a price and then charge you a higher price upon arrival. The team treated them very poorly and did not welcome the guests in a proper way. There were problems with the receptionist upon arrival. In the rooms there is no safe to store your money, no closet to arrange clothes in properly, and there is not even a refrigerator to put a bottle of cold water in. This hotel does not even deserve three stars, perhaps one star is enough, even if not less than that as well. A very bad experience compared to the money paid, which varies by several euros via online payment. The geographical location of the hotel is also bad and the room service is also bad, not cleaning properly. I do not advise anyone to visit such a hotel, and I do not think it should be called a hotel.
